Judge Stanley Hill Prepares Youth To Become Powerful Orators For Justice

    in Women

As many citizens across the country are reacting with anger to the Grand Jury's decision to file no charges against police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of unarmed teen Michael Brown, there are those who have launched a proactive strategy in the fight for justice.  Judge Stanley Hill has worked for the last several years coordinating the PUSH Excel Oratorical Contest, an event in which youth in grades 1 through 12 memorize some of history's most powerful speeches in the areas of peace and justice. Judge Hill coaches these youth and prepares them to compete in a stimulating and enjoyable rhetorical competition that focuses on the persuasive power of eloquent, inspirational speech. These are the perhaps future lawyers who will present arguments before courts and win cases.  What better way to fight back against injustice than to prepare future leaders who can be the orators that awaken their peers to the principles of truth, honor, and righteousness? Some of those whose memorable speeches will be recited by students in the upcoming contest Saturday December 20, 2014 include President Barack Obama, Langston Hughes, Robert Frost, Nikki Giovanni, and The Girl Who Silenced the United Nations for Five Minutes. Judge Hill explains his motivation for empowering these youth with outstanding speaking skills, and what the memorization of such impressive words will do in shaping their character. Later, we'll be joined by organizers in Missouri who reflect on how to take the energy of anger in the protesters and use it to create constructive change across the country.

Supreme Sense with 1SupremeGoddess = The Walking Dead & Other Realities of Life

    in Politics Conservative

Supreme Sense with 1SupremeGoddess = The Walking Dead & Other Realities of Life? ..... Monday night, at 7:30pm Eastern ....

Did you even notice that people WILL believe the things they see in the movies or on television a lot easier than they will believe similar situations that are playing out in front of them in real life?  Such is the case with things like The Walking Dead!

Last night was the much anticipated 1st episode of the new season of The Walking Dead. I'm AMAZED to see how so many people watch & relish watching that show, but fail to see the correlations of life within it.

Everyone KNOWS what THEY would do in similar situations & yet, when similar plays out in their real lives, they flounder & fail, just like they do in the movies & tv shows.  You WOULD think we'd learn a thing or two from the story lines we love & memorize, wouldn't you.

    Nature or nurture.

    Human Nature vs Conditioning.

Does art imitate life or does life imitate art? All I know is that in MY less than humble opinion, we had ALL better wake up soon or WE will be the ones fighting off the Zombies in THIS Zombie Appocolypse!

Join me & my wonderful co-hosts, @NukNeutron & @1Anobody as we discuss this & more.

Let's chat .... YOUR QUESTIONS & COMMENTS are ALWAYS WELCOMED & encouraged!

CALL into  914-338-1458, or if you are a little too shy to call, please feel free to participate in the discussions by joining the active chat room & let us know what YOU think.

We WILL get through these stormy seas TOGETHER!

The Church of Jesus the Christ, memory verse Hebrews 10:25

    in Religion

But God  has revealed them unto us by His Spirit, for the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.   1 Corinthians 2:10

Objective: To show the importance of the church in the Christian's Life.

Memorize verse: Hebrews  10:25    "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more;; as ye see the day approaching."

The Bible descibes the church in two senses:

    1. As the Universal church,

           Eph 5:23: 1 Corinthians 12:27; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13;  1 Corintthians 112:25-26; Acts 1:5-11

    Mark 12:32-33; Matthew 25:31-32 ; 24:36

    2. As the local church.

             Hebrews 10:25; Matthew 28:18-19; 1 Corinthians 11:23-61; Acts 4:32-33; 1 Thessalonians 1:6-10;

     Rev 3:14-17

    Life Application.

Why is it important for us to be a part of a local church?

If you're not involved, What kind of church will you seek and when will you start to attend?

Back To School... Is An Oxymoron!

    in School

When I hear "Back to School" it feels like They are returning to a place that is behind them. Sort of like going "Back to Prison" They are similar because  you are locked into a regimen that is forceful and controlling. School is like a place for conforming rather than expanding. " Is this how we permit America to enlighten, Mpower and direct our babies? Should we but in?Expansion isn't in the vocabulary when you hear teachers speak about their curriculum. School gets you to conform and to inject everyone with the same information (or lack thereof) so we will all move the same way and time and have the same perspective. In school we all memorize the same 4 things, Reading, Writing, Arithmetic and the European culture. Parents are really saying , My little Johnnie is so smart because he conforms quicker and more thoroughly than your  dumb Suzy. Or  "Girls conform quicker than little boys so they are smarter than boys".

Curtis Harwell and Kelli Richardson Discuss Food Portion Control and Fat Loss

    in Fitness

Portion control is an important concept when you're trying to lose weight and keep it off. But you don't need to memorize a food list or carry around measuring cups to get a better handle on serving sizes. Instead, use common visual cues to remind yourself of appropriate serving sizes. How? Many foods match up to everyday objects.

For example, a medium pepper is about the size of a baseball and equals one vegetable serving. While not all foods perfectly match visual cues, this method can help you better judge serving sizes and practice portion control, which may help with weight loss.

If you think the servings seem small, don't panic. Remember that you can eat multiple servings every day from each food group.

A 2.5-ounce piece of cooked skinless chicken is about the same size as two-thirds of a deck of cards and equals one protein/dairy serving, or about 110 calories. The same is true for a 2-ounce patty of cooked lean hamburger, which equals one serving and has about 110 calories.

    Other protein/dairy servings

    Protein/dairy
    1 serving (110 calories)Baked beans, canned
    1/2 cupEgg
1 wholeFish (haddock), grilled or broiled
    3 ouncesPork sausage, smoked
2 small linksTofu, firm or silken soft
