Red Velvet Media and The Indie Cafe "STEVE CONTE NYC"

    in Entertainment

Steve Conte has been one busy musician over the past few years. After leaving New York Dolls in 2010 he joined up with former Hanoi Rocks front man Michael Monroe as guitarist, songwriter and backing vocalist to release 3 albums, the most recent of which – Horns And Halos, 2013 Spinefarm Records – he wrote the lion’s share of the songs for (it’s already been nominated for “Album Of The Year” by the Finnish Grammys and The Nordic Music Prize). In the summer of 2011, in between touring with Monroe he began work on what was to be his first official solo album, naming the project “Steve Conte NYC”.And now in 2014, after years of making records with others, NYC guitarist/singer/songwriter Steve Conte has stepped out on his own to release The Steve Conte NYC Album. His first official solo record delivers all the guitar, vocal and songwriting skills you know from his previous bands; Steve Conte & The Crazy Truth, Crown Jewels, The Contes and Company Of Wolves. And that “bunch of friends” includes some serious talent. Joining Steve are members of Foo Fighters, The Wildhearts, New York Dolls, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, Hanoi Rocks, Georgia Satellites, Alice Cooper, Mink DeVille, Hellacopters, The Urban Voodoo Machine, Mott The Hoople, Backyard Babies, The Wallflowers, Company Of Wolves, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, and players from the bands of Ian Hunter, John Mellencamp, Roseanne Cash and Bruce Springsteen. The new album was mixed and mastered by Niko Bolas (Neil Young, Keith Richards) and Richard Dodd (Tom Petty, Counting Crows), respectively – the same team who did the 2009 release, Steve Conte & The Crazy Truth. http://stevecontenyc.com

'The Matt Duffin Show' - TBI 'Justice & Independence'

    in Education

America's 4th of July Day, or as fellow Hoosier John Mellencamp called it - Justice and Independence - is before us.  Let's talk about Holiday gatherings, the sparkles, booms and fireworks, the children laughing, people talking while we sit in a stimulied stare.  After a hotdog of course.  Or having a beer with folks over the traditional hot weathered holiday.  Is it ok?  What about lighting the fuses on the works?  Cooking a dish for the picnic?  Just simply avoiding the day, after all, what is more joyous than being alive AND UNDERSTANDING THAT JOY!

That's a topic.  Me?  I'm simply at a TBI loss, currently.  Too much has 'dumbfounded' my craziness as of late.  Call, straighten ME out.  Just don;t yell, or tell me what else I'm doing wrong.  Enough of that this week.   Personnally, I'm in a droll. My father has been deathly ill, and as his "Caregiver" (and he mine) its just tough to take.  Be aware, my plate is never full enough, pile it, let's have some fun.  But its awful heavy right now, and with this 1/3 of a stomach, I'm full.  Yes, I'm always 'full', at least of myself, but there isn't much to spill over this week.  Let's try.  I don't miss Sunday's; I could use a laugh too....

    in Entertainment

    SHOW INFORMATION: www/TonyTrombo.com

NEW!: Talking Zappa APP for Android! Click here: www.TalkingZappa.info .

My special guest for this show is ESSRA MOHAWK!

Her first record, The Boy With The Way, credited to Jamie Carter, was issued on Liberty Records in 1964. As Sandy Hurvitz, she was then discovered by Shadow Morton, who placed her songs with both the Shangri-Las ("I'll Never Learn") and the Vanilla Fudge ("The Spell That Comes After"). While living in New York City in 1967 she met Frank Zappa, who persuaded her to perform for a short time with The Mothers of Invention and then signed her to his production company Bizarre. Her first album Sandy's Album Is Here At Last was released on Verve/Bizarre in December 1968.

1969 she was signed by Reprise Records after executive Mo Ostin discovered her singing at a club in New York. The resulting album, Primordial Lovers, was later stated as being "one of the best 25 albums ever made" in Rolling Stone magazine. The album featured contributions from CSN&Y drummer Dallas Taylor and former Rhinoceros members Doug Hastings and Jerry Penrod.

Her third, self-titled, album came out on Asylum Records in 1974. The next album, Essra, was released on yet another label, Private Stock, in 1976. During that period, she also worked as a session and background singer, for John Mellencamp, Carole King and later she performed with the Jerry Garcia Band, and recorded and arranged background vocals for Kool & the Gang. In 1982 after recording another album in L.A., she worked with McFadden and Whitehead in Philadelphia, penning "Not With Me" for their Capitol album, Movin' On. She released another solo album, E-Turn, before Cyndi Lauper had a big hit with her song "Change of Heart" in 1986.

    in Indie Music

Rob Gonzalez is an American recording artist, composer, pianist, vocalist and producer currently based in Los Angeles, CA. He is best known for his 2006 album All Is Right With The World, which he self-released to widespread critical acclaim. The 12 song album, co-produced by Grammy winning producer Dave Way, features a stunning array of A list studio musicians, including collaborators/members of the touring ensembles of Paul McCartney, Elton John, Sting, and John Mellencamp. He is also known for taking a personal stand in the music industry against music made "purely for fame and wealth," forming his own company in 2006 (Music Equals Love Inc.), as an attempt to follow his pursuit of making "artful music of substance" while contributing to deserving charity organizations. Gonzalez's organic musical approach has often been compared to artists of the 70s singer-songwriter era such as Jackson Browne and Van Morrison. Gonzalez’s earliest musical influences included The Beatles, Elton John, and Sting. He stops by on Sunday, January 20, at 3pm EST to chat about his latest release and his amazing career.
