    An in depth look at the Dead Sea Scrolls

    in Christianity

     Welcome to another show.  Last week we had some technical issues and so we brought you last weeks show again. There are so many thoughts and perceptions today when it comes to religion! Is it by chance that so many of these run parallel to each other? People in our world society have developed their own practices of worship and definition of GOD! Yet all are as devout to their perceptions as the other. The largest discrepancy could be argued, and has been, in wars in the Middle East! Many would argue that the most argued point is on who is GOD's chosen people! Others would argue that the dividing line is on who Jesus is in relationship to God. Tonight we are bringing you information on the dead sea scrolls that was investigated by the BBC. We feel this is important with all of the attacks that have been made of late regarding the Bible and it's contents, that we take you back to a historical look that has been documented. Here we look at the miracle of the preservation of the Dead Sea Scrolls. We look forward to your questions and comments at the end of the show. Push the number 1 at the end of the show and you will be identified by the last four digits of your phone number when we place you on the air.

    The Red Sea crossing / A travessia do Mar Vermelho

    in Christianity

    And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. {for the...: or, for whereas ye have seen the Egyptians to day}
    The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
    And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
    But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry {ground} through the midst of the sea.
    Exodus 14: 13-16

    Moisés, porém, disse ao povo: Não temais; estai quietos, e vede o livramento do Senhor, que ele hoje vos fará; porque aos egípcios que hoje vistes, nunca mais tornareis a ver;
    o Senhor pelejará por vós; e vós vos calareis.
    Então disse o Senhor a Moisés: Por que clamas a mim? dize aos filhos de Israel que marchem.
    E tu, levanta a tua vara, e estende a mão sobre o mar e fende-o, para que os filhos de Israel passem pelo meio do mar em seco. Êxodo 14:13-16

    When Mortgages Confront Sea Level Rise

    in Environment

    When regularly and then permanently flooded in sea level rise vulnerable areas, homeowners will not want to make a choice between paying their existing mortgage obligations or, alternatively, defaulting and trying to qualify for a new place to live. Bad credit and a judgment against the borrowers would result from a default on the original mortgage commitments, making it almost impossible for the homeowners to qualify for a new loan.

    To confront this scenario, society needs solutions for the near future. In this podcast, we explore one such opportunity for creative finance which is also environmentally smart.

    Join sea level rise commentator Mitch Chester for a brief examination of this key issue.

    Disclosing Sea Level Rise In Real Estate Transactions

    in Environment

    As sea level rise ascends as a priority issue for the general population in vulnerable regions, legislatures and real estate professionals need to consider fair and reasonable rising sea notice statutes in residential and even commercial realty transactions.

    If we can warn potential buyers about lead based paint and radon gas, surely we can make them aware of ocean inundation issues.

    The failure to take on such initiatives on a state-by-state basis can result in litigation, not to mention broken dreams of residential property purchasers and business owners.

    Talking to the Terns & Playing Their Latest Album, To The Bottom Of The Sea

    in Entertainment

    Linda Rez goes behind the scenes with the band Terns and plays their just released album, To The Bottom of The Sea.

    It’s been 6 years since Tern’s last album. Their latest, To The Bottom Of The Sea, fits the mold of their previous efforts; a collection of authentic and eclectic songs about life, love and the great divide. As always Terns hold to no real genre markings, blending jazz, jam and rock inspired grooves with fuzzed out guitar lines, ukulele, banjo and basically anything else that happens to be lying around during the recording process.

    Tim McArthur and Jordan Fox stop by to share the stories behind the music and the creative process that went into the making of the album--years of jam sessions, experimentation, and bouncing lyrics and song revisions off of each other.  (Other band members: Dan McArthur on drums and Mark Putt, bass and other things.)

    To The Bottom of the Sea

    released 02 February 2015

    Recorded by Terns
    Produced by Terns and Dave McArthur
    Mastered by Jason Paul Johnston
