    Mr George Nyendwa- Lusaka Mayor

    in Current Events

Mr George Nyendwa was elected as Mayor of Lusaka on March 3, 2015 taking over the realms from late president's son Mulenga Sata. Mr Nyendwa was Chaisa Ward 20 Councilor and is said to be the longest serving Councilor in the city of Lusaka. He apparently won without any opposition and pledged to work with his colleagues, and particularly pledged to address the scourge of street vending in the city streets. Mayor Nyendwa will share his numerous years of service as a councilor, how he envisions Lusaka's immediate and long term needs, how does he intend to alleviate the traffic congestion and perpetual population growth which the current infrastructure cannot sustain any further? Join us for this long awaited discussion as we hear from the top leader of Zambia's capital and largest city.

    32 For 32: San Francisco 49ers

    in Sports

In the first edition of the 32 for 32 report by The Rocket Sports Breakdown, we'll be covering the San Francisco 49ers who were, by far, the biggest soap opera in all of the 2014 off-season. That drama carried over into the regular season which many of us had began to hear rumors of tension between the organization & former head coach Jim Harbaugh, who left to become head coach at his alma mater, Michigan University. In 2015, there have been many changes to this team. It started w/ a new head coaching hire in Jim Tomsula, which resulted in many folks scratching their heads & making more bar trips to drown their depressions. A handful of players have either retired, moved on to other teams in free agency, or simply been cut. However, some of their new editions have included linebacker Darnell Dockett, running back Reggie Bush, & wide receiver Torrey Smith, whose former team Baltimore Ravens defeated the 49ers in the Super Bowl just 3 seasons ago. He'll be reunited alongside Anquan Boldin, who was also on that Ravens team before being traded to San Fran. The big question for the Niners is what type of team will they be in 2015? We'll discuss that & their first round draft pick - defensive end Arik Armstead (Oregon) & more on The Rocket Sports Breakdown which airs this Wednesday morning @ 9:30am on Blog Talk Radio. Rocket Nation, get ready for our first big 32 for 32 power trip.

WASH ME- Lava Mae cleans up the Homeless in San Francisco

    in Culture

Please join host Frankie Picasso along with her guest Doniece Sandoval, founder of Lava Mae on Thursday, June 11th at 1:00 pm est for The Good Radio Network.

Doniece is the brainchild and founder of Lava Mae, a mobile washroom and shower station that services the 3500 plus homeless in  San Francisco and gives them a chance to get clean on a regular basis.

Doniece knew she wanted to help the homeless and a chance encounter gave her the idea she needed to help deliver dignity and unlock the opportunity for these street folks needed — one shower at a time.

Let's face it, most of take water  and bathing for granted, but imagine how difficult it would be to get a job, control hygiene or even find housing when no one will let you use their public toilets or washrooms? No one wants to sit next to someone who  is smelly, dirty and literally an attraction for disease? So Imagine how difficult it is to get yourself OFF the streets when you can't get clean? No one will hire you or give you a clean apartment.

Lava Mae offers these folks their dignity. By giving them a washroom, and a chance to bathe away the grime, these homeless folks can now shedule their bathing opportunity weekly,  and through partnering alliances, maybe even get fresh underwear, socks and clean clothes.

Lava Mae is run by volunteers.

Forgiveness From Within with Christopher Reburn

    in Spirituality

Forgiveness is the acceptance of ourselves, exactly the way we are, which is one of the most important aspects for living a life of contentment. As long as we judge ourselves or things we have done as unforgivable, we are locked into an uncompromising relationship with ourselves. Since others are mirrors of our own selves, when we cannot forgive others, there are probably things for which we cannot forgive ourselves. This unending circle holds us in a downward spiral from which we need to free ourselves by forgiving ourselves and/or others. Listen as I share some ways on how you can accept forgiveness and honor forgiveness, and how you can begin to heal your past and present from within!
