She is backed by his band, the Tomás Doncker Band. Marla is also SVP of Marketing/A&R with True Groove Records, a label she runs with Tomás Doncker.
Tomás Doncker As a prime mover on New York’s downtown “No Wave” scene in the early 1980s, Tomás Doncker cut his teeth as a guitarist with such genre-busting groups as James Chance & The Contortions, Defunkt, J. Walter Negro & The Loose Jointz and many more. Eventually he went international, touring and recording in Japan with jazz pianist Masabumi Kikuchi, and producing studio and songwriting sessions with Boosty Collins, Yoko Ono, Reggae vocal group The Itals, and producer Prince Charles Alexander, to name just a few. Since then, Doncker has continued to work with an A-list of iconic artists including Ivan Neville, Bonnie Raitt, Meshell Ndegeocello, Living Colour lead singer Corey Glover, former P-Funk keyboardist Amp Fiddler,Shamekia Copeland, and Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Yusef Komunyakaa. He also frequently collaborates with legendary Producer/Bassist Bill Laswell, and his ongoing "Power Of The Trinity" project was featured on CNN on November 27,2012 (Jimi Hendrix' birthday). His most recent project is "Big Apple Blues",his 2nd collaboration with Pulitzer Prize winning Poet Yusef Komunyakaa.
When you contemplate the illustrious career of Harvey Mason, your mind HAS to be blown. Born and raised in Atlantic City, young Harvey absorbed the vibes of the great musicians THERE - and showed so much promise on drums that he was playing with Duke Ellington and Errol Garner in the 60's. Early in his recording career, there he was - up front and center with Blue Note Records. And on Columbia: Please go check out Herbie Hancock and The Headhunters for a refresher course in freshly fused Jazz :)
The associations that this consummate first-call musician has made through five decades is staggering. Because, quite simply, HE is. Nathan East has shared space and stages with The Mase for 25 years or so (Fourplay's "Silver" just dropped) and he firmly suggests that drummers of ANY note studied Harvey Mason in order to find their own style. He was THAT distinctive THAT early in his journey.
We dare you to find another legendary drummer who has been involved with more Gold and Platinum recording sessions than our guest. Awards, accolades, nods from NARAS and "Modern Drummer." Over 150 motion picture soundtracks. A regular fixture at the Oscars each year. And that long relationship with Fourplay cannot be stressed enough. When you're with a successful musical unit for 25 years, that's cause for celebration!
As bandmates Nathan, Chuck Loeb, Bob James, and Harvey prepare for a holiday run at the Blue Note in New York, our friend wanted to take the time - during this Thanksgiving week - to express his gratitude for all that his fans have given him. How beautiful that NEW fans and fellow artists got together for his album last year. And how wonderful that life-long "brothers" are banding together again right before Christmas. How fortunate are we to visit with Harvey again? You already KNOW :)

Even at the age of nine, Harlem, New York native, Sean "Pryce" Baker was on the path to stardom. Inspired by Harlem greats like Camron, Diddy, Big L, Mase and others Pryce and a few friends from his neighborhood started a rap group. They borrowed a tape recorder and put their money together to buy a cheap mic from the local corner store to record their songs. Always looking impressed his classmates, in particular the ladies, Pryce an his group would perform at school in the cafeteria on lunch breaks or during gym class.
At 14 Pryce and his family relocated to Virginia where he worked on honoring his abilities as a song writer and performer. Using his status as the "new kid" he gained the attention of his peers by doing local shows, competitions or even the occasional battle. He caught the interest of a local manager who eventually took him under his wing.
Pryce continued to work on building his fan base. He released a mixtape with then co-managed artist Quasim Aka 100% . The project entitled "Ladies Love Us", obviously geared toward the opposite sex, received mixed reviews but helped establish Pryce as a serious artist with serious work ethic.
Pryce recently released a single called "Money Kisses" with Former YMCMB artist "Lil Chuckee". He is also working on his 1st solo effort titled "Pryce Of Fame". Now a resident of Atlanta, Ga Pryce is more focused than ever. Writing, recording and performing all over the south Pryce is eager to provide quality music for his fans during the coming year.
Nicky Mase is my special guest co-host. Erikka is your best friend’s little sister all grown up. Her smart, insightful comedy combined with her charming innocence masks a dark, biting undertone that celebrates the nerd in all of us. Erikka is a nationally touring comedian and award-winning writer. Her twitter handle @nerdgirlcomedy is recommended by the San Francisco Weekly as a top choice to follow if you like to laugh. Erikka is a regular at Flapper’s Comedy Club in Burbank, CA and can be heard often on the Sirius/XM Laugh Attack program “Get Off My Lawn.” Her sophomore album, "Smells Like Nerd Spirit" is available now on iTunes. When you think one of the most prolific character actors, who’s also an outrageous openly gay stand-up comedian, one name comes to mind…. Jason Stuart. Stuart has been making people laugh out loud with his hysterical performances all over the country since coming out in 1993. He has accomplished what few other gay comics have ever achieved: brutal honesty with humor in a world that’s not always kind. Not only is Stuart an all-out crowd pleaser, but he transcends the boundaries of race, gender and sexual orientation with his edgy comedic style. Stuart’s material about his experiences as a single Jewish gay man living in Hollywood is original, cutting edge and just plain funny. Stuart has performed at all of the top comedy clubs & comedy festivals and hundreds of gay events & prides, colleges & universities, and even on Broadway. Since Stuart makes such a strong connection with his audience, he is in high demand by corporate programs with his lecture, Coming Out In Hollywood, on being openly gay in the workplace. Most recently, he appears in Logo’s new comedy series, One Night Stand-Up.
