Susan Griffin is a poet, essayist, playwright and screenwriter. She was born in Los Angeles California in 1943, in the midst of the Second World War and the holocaust, and these events had a lasting effect on her thinking. The time she spent as a child in the High Sierras and along the coast of the Pacific Ocean also shaped her awareness. As she draws connections between the destruction of nature, the diminishment of women and racism, and traces the causes of war to denial in both private and public life, her work moves beyond the boundaries of form and perception. She is known for her innovative style. Her groundbreaking book Woman and Nature: The Roaring inside Her is an extended prose-poem. A Chorus of Stones: the Private Life of War, blends history and memoir as does Wrestling with the Angel of Democracy: On Being an American Citizen her most recent book (published by Trumpeter books in April, 2008.) This work explores the state of mind that engenders and sustains democracy. Susan was also one of the Editors for Transforming Terror: Remembering the Soul of the World released in 2011. Ms Mary Priddy The early part of Mary's life was rich with family and love. Growing up attending church with her brothers and grandparents, Mary learned how to be a disciplined Christ follower at a young age. She was very close to her grandparents. Her grandfather, who was a preacher, exhibited genuine care and concern for his family and church body. Her grandparents served an important role in Mary's life. They showed her a faithful marriage, the constant acceptance of a loving Father, and the honoring routine of diligent believers. Mary re-calls singing hymns on the way to church in the car with her grandparents.
Mary would sing the same hymns to comfort herself years later on an urban street as she looked for the night's work... At the age of 12, Mary's life took an unexpected turn. As an unruly cry for help and attention after the devastating death of her grandfather, Mary took to self-harm to manipulatively extract herself from her home environment.
Her family had not coped with the death of her grandfather easily and every comfort she knew was falling to pieces around her. She wanted out. So she decided she'd do just that - get out. After an intentionally superficial cut to her forearm and a call to 911, Mary was placed in the state public care system of Tennessee.

Mary K is a spiritual adventurer and seeker of truth. She is currently in the process of writing a Children's book, and she has also been a Network Marketer since 1995 and an avid Internetwork Marketer since 2000. She says, 'In light of that you’d think I might have learned a thing or two. The funny thing is, that while I have learned a lot… there is always more learning to do. That’s what I’m up to. Learning new things… and sharing both the tried and true that I've learned while inviting you to join me on the journey of continuing that adventure!'
The best thing about all of this for her is that it asks… even encourages her to seek out people who are willing to explore and share their dreams and vision. It gives her reason to invite people to share— from their heart— early in the relationships that she builds.
Mary K says she loves this because sharing dreams and clarifying vision puts us together in an energy that feels so good and so alive. It opens us up to take inspired action, which consistently results in greater and greater levels of success. She find this to be a joy sharing this kind of ride with others!
While you are listening to the show, it would be wonderful if you would honor us by stopping by The Magic Happens facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/themagichappensnow) and giving us a like.

Blessed Mary of Pisa -- More often than not, the women saints that the Church venerates have been cloistered virgins. Blessed Mary of Pisa also founded a religious order, but like St. Elizabeth Seton, she did so as a widow. Unlike our American saint, she had been married twice and borne many children.
Catherine Mancini belonged to a distinguished family in Pisa, Italy, in the days when the great Italian cities were engaged in civil war against each other. The story is told of her that when she was only five, she had a sort of vision of the torturing of one Peter Gambacorta. He had been accused of political conspiracy and sentenced to be hanged. The legend says that the child, on experiencing the vision, prayed so hard for Peter that the rope by which he was being hanged broke, whereupon the judges commuted his death penalty. Our Lady then appeared to Catherine, the story continues, and told her to say seven Our Fathers and Hail Marys for Gambacorta every day, for he was going to become her benefactor in the years to come.
