America has the highest rate of incarceration in the world. With 5 % of world population, it has 25% of the world's prisoners. This points to fundamental problems with the criminal justice system in the US. With over 70 million Americans incarcerated, on probation or on parole, there is a serious problem with the way crime is defined and dealt with in the United States. The problem has become so bad that conservatives and liberals are joining forces to work together to find ways to reform the system. No one can talk with more authority about injustices in the prison system than our guest on Taking Back America on December 9. Mary Ellen Digiacomo is with 4JusticeNow, the Florida chapter of The Action Committee for Women in Prison. She works with women who are often in prison as a result of the actions of their partners or because of defending themselves against abuse. Mary Ellen can also speak from personal experience, having been convicted of violations of arcane regulations on selling shares in a company that was detroyed by state regulators in what appears to have been a witch hunt. After 5 years in prison, she is trying to rebuild her life while helping other women defend themselves against the abuses that she saw and experienced in prison. This show was broadcast on December 22 on Star Com Radio network. Take Back America for the People is an educational nonprofit whose mission is to reveal to the American public the true costs of corporate control of the US government.

Ellen Karis is the “Greek Goddess of Comedy,” and has had a successful career performing in North America alongside such notable comics as Drew Carey, Tom Papa, and Bobby Collins. The entertainment industry has hailed her as the “little dynamo,” given her petite stature, strong improv skills and her ability to build a quick rapport with any audience. Born and raised in NYC in a traditional strict Greek home, her brand of sarcastic, observational humor has been described along the same lines as comedy legends Joan Rivers and Richard Lewis.
Today’s program pays tribute to African Americans who have blazed trails for freedom, in military service and through global ministry outreach. Their selflessness and vision prove once again that Black History IS American History both now and in our past.

And an international field study trip to Chennai, India turned into a God-inspired opportunity for Rev. Karla Cooper during her 2003 graduate years in seminary. That fateful trip has yielded more than 125 Indian churches, now fully a part of the connectional African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Craft, Wiltz and Cooper, three role models who have helped make America become the multicultural mosaic that makes us so unique.

How long has it been since you were lovingly touched? A touch from the heart...without judgement, without expectations. We are inhibited in this society to touch or be touched. This is regrettable and it should not be so. Bodies need to be touched and we don't give us the pleasure of being touched or just touching our body. I have developed a Conscious Touch workshop where the participants learn to consciously touch other bodies and be consciously touched.
