Marty Balin: singer/songwriter, founding member of Jefferson Airplane and hit maker of Jefferson Starship joins host Robin Milling to share 50 years of musical memories with his new CD, Good Memories.
Spanning five decades, whether you grew up in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s or 2000s you'll always remember such songs as It's No Secret, Count on Me, With Your Love, and Miracles; to name a few. Marty tells Robin how they came up with the name 'Jefferson Airplane,' along with his fond memories of Grace Slick, and not so fond memories of playing Woodstock! He says the behind-the-scenes goings on at the festival were much more memorable.
When Marty isn't making music he is making art. His art gallery in St. Augustine, Florida features his paintings and lots of memorabilia for sale.
As a follow up to Good Memories, Balin – who is known as “The King of Love Songs” – will release The Greatest Love; a new album of original music.

Marty Simpson doesn’t look like an All-American Football Player, a sports radio talk show host, or a national touring comedian. Let’s be honest, he looks like Dr. Phil's heavier brother. Yet, he’s all of these things.
He also doesn't look like he would have an amazingly beautiful wife which he's been happily married to for over 20 years, but that's true too! Marty's comedy is rooted in his life experiences, which include antics with his wife, children, and golden doodles, as well as the occasional sports story. (But keep in mind, when Marty played football, he wasn't a real player, he was just the kicker!)
Plus, Marty is a stand-up comedian who has quickly garnered national recognition after becoming the winner of the 2012 Clean Comedy Challenge. Since that time, you may have seen Marty opening for Saturday Night Live’s Dennis Miller (if you were at that one show, that one night), Tim Hawkins, Pauly Shore, and Last Comic Standing Winners, Jon Reep and John Heffron. Marty also was a featured performer recently at the Lifeway Main Event along side Dr. Tony Evans, The Kendrick Brothers, All-Pro Place-Kicker David Akers, and Coach Tommy Bowden.
Marty stays busy at live stand-up shows throughout North America and has performed in venues from the 3 thousand seat Durham Performing Arts Center, all the way to Los Angeles’ Flappers Comedy Club. Marty has been a featured performer on Tim Hawkins’ Rockshow Comedy Tour and has performed for hundreds of churches across America and Canada.
Marty’s fun-loving, self-deprecating comedy is focused on his experiences as a husband, dad, and former high school coach and teacher.

Join her on Saturday, October 24 when she welcomes Marty L. Ward, founder of Create Confident Kids, to Get Fit Feel Fabulous:
Marty L Ward is championing the movement to Create Confident Kids. When a 10 yr old little girl hung herself rather than face the bully back in 2011, Marty said, “ENOUGH!” Despite all our school regulations and “Anti-Bullying” and “Stop Bullying” campaigns, 4,400 students commit suicide each year (nobullying.org) and 160,000 are absent every day (MBNDB.org) due to fear of confronting the bully.
Fed up with the rising statistics, Marty looked for an answer. Influenced by leaders such as Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Gandhi, and Mother Theresa, Marty designed a Create Confident Kids to Eliminate Bullying Program with a whole new twist: it focuses on what we do want – Confident Kids – rather than on what we don’t want – more bullying.
The goal is to decrease childhood suicide and absenteeism – caused by fear of confronting the bully – by 50% in the next 5 years. Not only will kids feel great about themselves, but also teachers and administrators can spend more time doing what they love – teaching and leading.
Learn how to use a simple, straight-forward and actionable formula to create a school culture of “All For One And One For All” that can contribute to making school a safer, more secure place, where children can focus on learning and growing rather than avoiding the bully.
