On the Wednesday, April 9th 2014 broadcast at 2PM PT/5PM ET our special guest is Dr. James Mason, hematologist and oncologist with a special interest in blood and bone marrow transplantation.
In addition to his experience with therapy programs for breast cancer and certain solid tumors, he performs blood and marrow stem cell transplantation for patients with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute and chronic leukemia, and other diseases of the blood and bone marrow.
Dr. Mason is director of the Scripps Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program and the stem cell lab at Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines. Under his leadership, the BMT Program offers innovative care — incorporating dose-intensive chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy — and is recognized as a leader in the BMT field on the West Coast.
He believes in taking a collaborative approach to medicine and is part of a large, integrated system of physicians, nurses, pharmacists and specialists — all dedicated to providing excellent patient care.

Dr. Marsha Coleman-Adebayo won an historic lawsuit against the EPA on the basis of race, sex, color discrimination, and a hostile work environment. The EPA cost Dr. Coleman-Adebao her career and endangered her family.

Christine Mason is the CEO of the Center for Educational Improvement, a small non-profit dedicated to leadership for 21st Century Learning. Dr. Mason has a background in educational psychology, special education, and educational leadership, and in particular the needs and concerns of elementary school principals. As a researcher she has developed and served as a Principal Investigator on projects focusing on student self determination, inclusion, teacher mentoring, and Transition to Teaching -- an alternative certification program. She has also received state and local contracts for Race to the Top school improvement initiatives. From 2011-2013 Dr. Mason directed research and professional development for the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and she continues to collaborate withNAESP to develop and promote principal mentoring for 21st century learning. In fact her office is co-located with NAESP and the NAESP Foundation continues to contribute resources towards Dr.Mason's initiatives.
Dr. Mason has worked with charter schools, trained teachers as an Associate Professor of Special Education, been an interim principal for an international boarding school in India, served on school review teams in Dubai, and developed a network of consultants to deliver technical assistance to schools. During the past year she has co-authored two research studies on principal leadership for the Common Core and one international article on NAESP's principal mentoring program.
