Let's Do Lunch! at Ocean 60

    in Entertainment

Let's Do Lunch! visits Ocean 60 in Jacksonville, Florida on Atlantic Beach, offering a casual atmosphere with an emphasis on a fine dining experience. Jacksonville native Chef Daniel Groshell was inspired to open a restaurant through his world travels as a youth, and his mother's artistic influence.  Along with his wife Mariela they are the perfect hosts, making sure you are satisfied in every way.
A special Let's Do Lunch! five-course menu was prepared by Chef Daniel complimented by delicious wines from server and sommelier Thomas. The meal featured buttery jumbo diver scallops served with a corn coulis caught by Ocean 60's personal diving team, a scrumptious salad trio of conch, duck, and beets, local grouper served Mediterranean style with pearl couscous, and lamb shank so tender it falls off the bone which Chef says he brings home for his beagle as a special treat. The superb meal was finished off with homemade key lime crème brulee with just enough of a crack on top.
What sets Chef Daniel apart from the rest is a desire to give back to the community. Ocean 60 hosts charities such as Habitat for Humanity and The Heal Foundation, started by his brother. He has a no limits philosophy where he'll give anything a shot; perhaps a cooking show is even in the works! Coming soon is his uber healthy raw granola bar, the Good Mood Bar.

“Meet Albert Einstein” with Mariela Kleiner

    in Moms and Family

Mariela Kleiner was inspired to write her first children’s book because her two year old daughter Hailey chose Albert Einstein’s book - “Relativity” for her bedtime story. She improvised the story about Albert Einstein so that Hailey could understand it. Starting out with Einstein as a scientist who loves to study light and gravity, the book, “Meet Einstein” helps to introduce children to science, and shows them that they are already great scientists! Light and gravity are concepts preschoolers are ready to learn, and this book helps in making the connections in everything they see and do by teaching them that science is all around us. Mariela and I will be discussing about her life journey, her new book, and celebrate Albert Einstein’s birthday which is on March 14th! Please call 347.327.9995 on Tuesday March 15th from 10-11 am U.S. CT to join Mariela and I live on the air with your questions and comments.

Mariela Kleiner - MEET EINSTEIN - Children’s book, Science

    in Science

Science teaching is difficult in many ways. Anyone who has some new ways to teach it should be heard. I will add my own beliefs, theories, and successful (and unsuccessful) experiences. I stressed human body and mind.
Teaching little ones the basic concepts of science has never been easier or more fun with the help of Mariela Kleiner’s darling new children’s book, Meet Einstein.
The educational children’s book introduces youngsters to Einstein and shows that they, too, are already great scientists. Light and gravity are concepts preschoolers can learn, and Kleiner’s story shows them how science is all around.
Inspiration for the story came when Kleiner’s own daughter, Hailey, chose a “grown-up” book for bedtime – Einstein’s Relativity. Kleiner improvised the story of Einstein so Hailey could understand it. She wants other children to be as enthusiastic about science.
Kleiner believes that if we start introducing kids to these concepts at the preschool level, it helps to lay a foundation for understanding that they can build upon as they grow older. She says they are already scientists of a sort, due to their curiosity and love of discovery – they just don’t know it until they Meet Einstein!
Receiving much advanced praise from educators, parents, children and the book industry, Meet Einstein is the winner of the 2010 National Indie Excellence Award for best children’s picture book.
Future titles from Kleiner might highlight luminaries in such fields as gourmet cuisine or space exploration. Meet Einstein is available in museums and retail stores around the country and online.
This is Kleiner’s first children’s book publication. She lives in Northern California with her husband and two children. Kleiner previously worked for Google; and she and her husband are creators of The Giving Challenge (http://www.thegivingchallenge.com/) that was featured on The Oprah Winfrey show.
