It's almost time for Orlando City's first MLS season to start. But before we get to that, there's the whole pesky matter of the MLS Collective Bargaining Agreement, which must be resolved in less than three weeks if games are going to take place as scheduled.
Also, the Lions will first have to solidify their starting XI, which is something that they'll start working on this weekend at the Carolina Challenge Cup in Charleston against New York City FC. The Mane Land writers Michael Citro, Andrew Marcinko and Austin David discuss these topics, plus who might be loaned to USL affiliate Louisville City at the end of preseason.
Plus, Orlando City midfielder Harrison Heath joins us to talk about his preseason so far and the team's outlook as it moves toward the 2015 inaugural MLS season.
Here's how it broke down:
0:26 - Michael and Andrew discuss the MLS CBA issue and what to expect at the upcoming Carolina Challenge Cup.
10:05 - Austin jumps on to talk about the likely candidates for loan to Louisville City FC, roster battles and the projected opening day starting XI.
28:19 - Harrison Heath tells us what it's like to play with Kaká, how the team chemistry is coming along, and whether he'd rather make the big club or get more playing time in Louisville.
Starting next month we'll be moving to a weekly schedule through the end of the MLS season. See you next time!
With the latest controversy surrounding the 13 year old girl who was put out of school because of her natural hair in Toronto Canada, our Mane Talk hair team will discuss how we as a culture really feel about natural hair. Do we really feel that some natural hair styles are professional? Let's discuss our real feeling about this!
The regular season home finale has come and gone and Orlando City extended its winning streak to five games, sending the huge Citrus Bowl crowd of 40,000+ home with a 2-1 win over New York City FC. The Lions still have the tiniest of chances to sneak into the MLS playoffs as an expansion team, but honestly, finishing ahead of NYCFC feels just as good.
We're here to break down that win over our fellow 2015 expansion team and we'll talk about our key performances and our selections for Man of the Match. We also discuss the newly announced NWSL team, Orlando Pride, which the club announced on Tuesday, as well as the latest rumors swirling around about a potential trade that will bring Alex Morgan to the City Beautiful. We like the idea.
TML's own Jeff Milby stops by to give us his postmortem on Louisville City FC's season, and how the affiliation worked (or didn't) for both clubs. And we talk to Eugene Rupinski of The Brotherly Game about this weekend's upcoming regular season finale at Philadelphia Union. It's a jam-packed show!
Oh, and we give our key match-ups and final score predictions. Here's the rundown:
0:26- Our thoughts on an exciting 2-1 win over NYCFC and whether two key balls crossed the goal line.
27:23- Jeff Milby gives us the LCFC season overview from Louisville.
40:16- Eugene hops on and talks a little Philadelphia Union with us.
53:18- Key match-ups and score predictions for the game in Philadelphia.
Can we just be done with July? The seventh month of 2015 was unkind to Orlando City fans, as well as our Lions,to the tune of no wins. Nada. Not even one.
Nevertheless, Michael Citro is joined by fellow Mane Landers Brent Petkus and Kye Foley to break down the two most recent disappointing results - a 3-1 away loss in the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals against the Chicago Fire, and a 5-3 barnburner at Yankee Stadium against New York City FC. At least we got to see City's first MLS hat trick in the latter, courtesy of rookie striker Cyle Larin.
Our old frienemy Pat Murphy from Massive Report stops in and updates us on Saturday night's opponents, the Columbus Crew, who we are seeing for the fourth (!) time during the 2015 season. Pat tells us what makes Kei Kamara so special and what we might expect on Saturday.
Then we discuss the game's key match-ups and give our always LOL-worthy match predictions.
Here's how it all unfolded:
0:26- Michael, Brent and Kyle are as sick of losses as you are but at least we're able to put them into perspective. Hey, Cyle Larin did good!
24:37- Pat jumps on board and gives us the latest from the Crew side. Kamara, Clark and what it's like playing someone this often.
43:06- Key match-ups for Saturday and final score predictions!
Three wins in a row. Sounds good, doesn't it? The only thing better than winning three in a row would be to win four in a row.
Orlando City will try to do just that on Saturday and if the club pulls through, the playoffs are still not out of the realm of possibility. It will be a tough challenge against a Montreal Impact club that's very much in form since the addition of superstar striker Didier Drogba. We're here to preview that imporant match-up.
But first, we want to dwell on the past. Specifically, we want to dwell on a big 5-2 win at Red Bull Arena last Friday night. Cyle Larin, Carlos Rivas, Luke Boden, Lewis Neal, the woodwork...we rate all of their performances. We pick out our Man of the Match selections, as well.
And there's a little Cristiano Ronaldo talk in the air. It's ridiculous but it's out there, so why not talk about it?
We close with our key match-ups for this weekend and our score predictions. Here's how it happened:
0:26- Our analysis of a fantastic win over the New York Red Bulls, including hat tricks and goal streaks and all three Designated Players playing well.
15:52- Our MotM selections for last Friday's game, and it's not unanimous.
21:02- Cristiano Ronaldo to Orlando City? We think not but dare to dream!
24:51- Previewing Montreal Impact and what Orlando City has to do to get a win.
32:04- Our key match-ups and final score predictions!
It seems like only yesterday we were filling the bowl for Orlando City's inaugural MLS match against fellow expansion side New York City FC. But now we're just a day away from the final home game of this first season in the league against...yep, NYCFC.
We're excited about Friday but also sad to see the season coming to a close. We'll get over that sadness if the Lions can stay in the playoff race for at least one more week.
With no Orlando City match to break down coming off the bye week, we instead shift gears and look back at the USMNT's disappointing 3-2 loss to Mexico in the CONCACAF Cup on Saturday. We discuss Jurgen Klinsmann and Brek Shea's involvement in the Costa Rica friendly. Plus, we look ahead to OCSC's expansion into the USL and NWSL. We should learn more about the USL team today.
And we're joined by Rafa Noboa y Rivera, editor-in-chief over at Hudson River Blue. Raf tells us what's new with NYCFC, talks about their recent upswing, and previews what their lineup will look like. He also gives us his final score prediction for Friday.
And we give you our key match-ups and score predictions as well.
Here's how the show unfolded:
0:26- USMNT talk, what's up with Jurgen Klinsmann and a look at Orlando City's upcoming expansion into the USL and NWSL.
33:04- Raf jumps aboard and tells us what we can expect from the New York City FC match on Friday.
55:56- Our key match-ups for Friday's home finale for Orlando City and our final score predictions.
That's it! We'll see you next week.
Saturday night was fun and frustrating. The Lions finally looked themselves after several lackluster performances. However, most of their chances went wanting.
Oh, and there was the weather. A two hour wait to get the game started was followed by 18 minutes of soccer and then another hour delay. Fans who stayed were soaked but treated to a good performance by Orlando.
Seth from The Bent Musket joins us to talk about what we can expect from the Revs in an important match-up for the Lions' playoff hopes.
We'd like to crank up a new segment called "Ask TML," which is sort of an audio version of a Reddit AMA. To get your questions in, hit us up on Twitter with the #AskTML hashtag or email us with "Ask TML" in the subject line.
Here's how the show went down:
0:26- Allen, Andrew and I discuss the 1-1 draw vs. Chicago Fire, the Cyle Larin/Own goal, the weather and what kind of lineup we might see this Saturday.
24:27- Seth hops aboard and clues us in on what's been going on with the Revolution, why they're playing better of late, and what we can expect from them on Saturday.
39:08- We give our key match-ups for this Saturday and predict the final score.
A promising middle of the season pushed Orlando City into second in the Eastern Conference playoff race. But a miserable two months on the pitch since Brek Shea's injury has the Lions looking up at all six playoff spots after New England's 3-0 demolition of City at Gillette Stadium on Saturday night.
But hope springs eternal and the Lions come home with reinforcements against former Orlando City striker Dom Dwyer and Sporting Kansas City.
We break down the action from Saturday night and give you our Man of the Match (spoiler: it was Tally Hall). We also look ahead to Sunday's showdown with Sporting KC with the help of Thad Bell of The Blue Testament, SB Nation's SKC blog. Thad weighs in on Dom, Aurelien Collin, Amobi Okugo and more.
And there's always our predictions segment, where we beg you not to take our prognostications to your local bookie.
Here's how it went down:
0:27- Michael and Daniel review the New England Revolution game, with what went right and what went very wrong. And Tally Hall is amazing.
20:03- Thad Bell jumps on to give us the Sporting KC point of view on all things.
37:05- Our key match-ups for Sunday and final score predictions.
So that's what three points feel like. It's been awhile.
Brek Shea returned and Adrian Winter and Bryan Rochez both opened their MLS accounts as the Lions claimed all the points against former OCSC star Dom Dwyer and his Sporting Kansas City teammates at the Citrus Bowl Sunday. Andrew Harrison joins host Michael Citro to discuss the game's talking points and bask in the glow of victory.
Then Hot Time in the Old Town Editor-in-Chief Sean Spence joins us to look ahead to Chicago on Saturday and which players may or may not play at Toyota Park for the Fire. Sean gave us the lowdown on the situation in Chicago and what we can expect on Saturday, plus his score prediction.
And we give our key match-ups for the weekend and our not-to-be-wagered-on predictions for the game against the Fire.
Here's how it happened:
0:25- Victory! Andrew and Michael dissect a very satisfying 3-1 home win on Sunday and spotlight the performances by Adrian Winter, Bryan Rochez, Brek Shea, Cristian Higuita, Servando Carrasco and others. Plus our Man of the Match selections.
21:20- Sean Spence jumps on and he's got much to say about the state of the Chicago Fire. He previews Chicago's speedy forwards and midfielders and which ones might sit out the match Saturday. Plus he gives us his take on the NWSL as Orlando City seems on the brink of adding a women's team.
47:36- Our key match-ups and prediction time!

There's so much to talk about these days with Orlando City that it's getting harder to fit everything in! This week, we break down Kaká's MVP performance in the MLS All-Star Game, the departure of Sean St Ledger via waivers, and the 5-2 victory over Columbus Crew SC on Saturday.
We're joined by Brotherly Game Managing Editor Eugene Rupinski, who tells us about this Saturday's opponents, the Philadelphia Union who we've not yet seen this season. Eugene did a great job explaining what's been going on in Philly and even his dog had some strong takes.
Finally, we discussed tonight's opponents, Toronto FC and what we expect on the road against the Reds. And, of course, we give our no-chance-in-hell-we're-right match predictions for both games, including final scores and who will find the net.
Here's how it went down:
0:27- We talk Kaká as All-Star MVP and ambassador, the surprise waiving of Sean St. Ledger, the big win over Columbus and our Man of the Match.
24:47- Eugene and his dog jump on the cast and give us the Philadelphia perspective and what to expect from the Union. No cheesesteaks were offered in friendship!
44:30- Toronto talk and predictions for both matches.
We'll see you next week!
