    in Food

Forager and writer JJ Murphy has been eating wild foods since she could walk. Growing up on a family farm in Connecticut gave her many opportunities to forage yards, gardens and woods. After earning a Masters degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Kansas, she moved to New York City and discovered urban foraging.

JJ writes The Joyful Forager column for the Shawangunk Journal in New York’s Hudson Valley. Her articles have appeared in the publications Wildness Magazine, Outdoors Unlimited, and Spores Illustrated. Ms. Murphy studies wild mushrooms with renown mycologist Gary Lincoff and was a scholarship recipient at the Clark Rogerson Mushroom Foray and the North East Mycological Federation Foray.

She studied ethnobotany with Barrie Kavasch and forages with television host Wildman Steve Brill, Sam Thayer, Jim Cappossela, Leda Meredith and has taken bushcraft courses with Tracker Tom Brown, adding tracking, hunting, fishing and trapping to her wild food gathering skills. JJ Murphy lives in Orange County, NY at the foot of Schunemunk Mountain.

Joyful Foraging is a step by step guide for anyone who wants to eat healthier, fresher, more flavorful foods while trimming grocery costs by 30% or more. Ms. Murphy’s easy to follow ebook shows readers how to forage wild edibles in urban, suburban and rural  settings, use them in revamped gourmet recipes, cocktails and even pet food, all while benefitting local eco-systems. Chyna joined the VOC Wrestling Nation and talked about how her latest video was filmed over a year ago, and TNA was aware of her desire to continue in the adult film business prior to booking her.
