MMSRS #49 - Financial Tricks and Tips

    in Military

How can you and your servicemember wife avoid the traps of payday loans and other predatory lending facilities? What options do you have? What are the best ways to prevent getting the boot for being in debt? Join host Dave Etter and assorted callers who recall thier personal nightmares with predatory lenders and how to avoid these traps. 2 hours from 10am to noon CDT, callers dial (516) 453-9167 to join in!

MMSRS is a weekly 2-hour web-based call-in radio show (516-453-9167), hosted by Dave Etter, focusing on the needs of men married to serving military members, both men and women. Male Military Spouses are a small niche of military spouses, comprising of only 7%-8% of all military spouses. We feel left out, usually, at support functions - especially those designed with the spouses being identified as "wives"! We get cajoled at playgrounds where our kids play, from the mommies there who think we don't belong. We are proud SAHDs, who gave up our careers to follow our spouses as they dedicate thier lives to defend our country! Here, on this show, we come together and share beer recipes, diaper changing techniques, financial discoveries - manly things, for men! Airs Fridays at 10am CT, rated R for the cussing that can occur, and available for download (podcast) immediately following each show.

The Female Solution: The Mom's Boyfriend vs. Mom's Son Conflict

    in Religion

When a marriage ends, whether due to death or divorce, and a woman is left to raise her children alone, she generally doesn't plan to remain alone for the rest of her life. She hopes the male companion that enters her life will also be in harmony with her children from her previous relationship, and ideally everyone will get along, she'll remarry and live happily ever after. That's the hope. Unfortunately, that is very often not the reality, particularly when the children have reached the teen years.  A woman with teenage daughters has to be very cautious about bringing men around them. There are countless horror stories of men who tried to seduce or even sexually assaulted the teenage daughter of the woman they were dating. A woman with teenage sons has to face different issues. A sixteen year old son without a father present in the home sees himself as the male head of household and sees any other man entering his mothers's life as an intruder. How should a single mother handle these situations as she prepares to find a new husband? What happens if her children object to the new man in her life?
