SPORTS CHAT: Former major-league baseball players Dee Dixon & Rafael Skeete

    in Baseball

Host Andrew Dixon & Rapheal Skeete

Rory Costello is a member of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR). He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Rory has written many biographies of major-leaguers and other baseball figures for SABR's BioProject website.
He has a lot of interests when it comes to choosing his subjects, but players from Latin American balla and the Caribbean are right up there at the top.

SABR members have a variety of interests, and this is reflected in the diversity of its research committees. There are more than two dozen groups devoted to the study of a specific area related to the game — from Baseball and the Arts to Statistical Analysis to the Deadball Era to Women in Baseball. In addition, many SABR members meet formally and informally in regional chapters throughout the year and hundreds come together for the annual national convention, the organization's premier event. These meetings often include panel discussions with former major league players and research presentations by members. Oct 15, 1986: N.Y. Mets (7) at Houston (6), 16 inn. The Wrongful Arrest and Malicious Prosecution of Major Christopher Bonds

    in Radio

On June 28, 2008 Major Christopher Bonds was wrongfully detained, arrested and later indicted for a crime he never committed. His wife's great Aunt who had been previously diagnosed with dementia alleged that Major Bonds choked her as well as elbowed her in the chest. Most people who are familiar with Alzheimer or dementia patients understand these patients often make up events and actually believe they occurred. However, the Chicago police department did not thoroughly investigate these accusations, nor did they take into account the aunt's mental condition at the time of the report. When Major Bonds made numerous attempts to explain to detectives what had actually occurred, he was left with the impression the...y were not at all concerned about the truth. These false accusations have lead to years of Major Bonds fighting in court against the word of an Alzheimer patient whom he loved and cared about . The whole ordeal has left Major Bonds exhausted mentally, physically and financially. He has spent over $100,000 in legal fees. After a lengthy court battle this case was eventually dismissed. However, the same judge that dismissed the case has refused to expunge Major Bonds arrest record.

Major Christopher Bonds will tell in his own words how much this has actually cost him. We understand this wrongful arrest forced him into bankruptcy and almost ruined his military career.
