    Chef Carlton Whisonant, started his cooking career in 1979 in the fast food industry.


    After being in the fast food industry for years he worked his way up into management. Chef Carlton went to Culinary School in Washington, DC in 1984.  There he studied and mastered the culinary arts of food, as a Caterer/Chef.


    While in school he landed very prominent positions in the seafood and hotel establishments. In 1991 Chef Carlton started his own catering business while still working for local restaurants. Throughout the years he worked himself up to the positions of Kitchen Manager and Sous Chef.  In 2011, Chef Carlton came down with an illness that stopped him from working for Corporate America. With this illness he started taking his vast knowledge of foods and incorporating healing and healthy living. Chef Carlton started to notice that many other people in this world were having some of the same issues, so that is when he started “The Healing Chef”. The Healing Chef teaches and trains people how to make great delicious meals that can heal your body at the same time. Since the start of this crusade, Chef Carlton’s body has been miraculously transformed.  Not only has there been a transformation with his body, but countless numbers of other people have had transformations in their bodies also through his teaching

    Special Olympics Host Town Manhattan Beach

    We have two returning guest this morning, Laura Leventhal, Program Coordinator for the Special Olympics World Games and Nancy Vrankovic, Director of Catering and Special Events for Simms Restaurants.


    With a background in Strategic Communications and Journalism, Laura has worked with CBS EcoMedia using advertising dollars to fund national community enhancement projects. Laura has explored research in Corporate Social Responsibility, which helped lead her to World Games LA2015 combining an interest in the business of Sports Management and Philanthropy.


    Nancy Vrankovic is the Director of Catering and Special Events for Simms Restaurants, a company based in Manhattan Beach with a rich family history in the restaurant business.  She began her career in her family’s restaurants in Arizona as a teen, bussing tables to make gas money.  What began as an after school job blossomed into a career when she began managing a restaurant while attending the University of Arizona. She then worked at the Westin la Paloma where she worked her way up to Catering Sales Manager. 


    So last month, we featured a panel with the Chairs of the four Beach Cities Host Towns and what it takes to be a Host Town. This morning, we’ll focus on Manhattan Beach's efforts and contributions to the big event.
