SHOW NOTES: This episode is part of our EDUCATORS’ EDEN™ series wherein we explore the paradise that the most passionate, creative and committed educators create for themselves, their students, peers, administrations and institutions!
“There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance.” - Socrates.
This series acknowledges the power of education! Those fortunate enough to be educators share knowledge to ensure that their love of learning is able to flourish and thrive in a version of eden! Teaching (any students, in any format, in any setting) is honorable and one of the most special endeavors that humans engage in.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” - Nelson Mandela
Our show topic is, “Sage on the stage? Good, bad, obsolete?”
Definition of SAGE:
1 a : wise through reflection and experience
2 : proceeding from or characterized by wisdom, prudence, and good judgment
Sage. (n.d.). Retrieved July 12, 2014, from http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sage
The effective and contented modern sage on the stage must combine the love of knowledge with the love of sharing of knowledge (especially the challenge of communicating complex concepts to learners with no understanding and/ or interest in the material). Technology is a tool for use in teaching as other prior tools have been (physical textbooks, in class films, etc.).
BOTTOM LINE: Sage on the stage first, and then guide on the side second.

Welcome to the awkward stage.
The time afer the damage has been done to America but before the results reveal themselves in their full ugliness.
We've touched on the topic before, but we'll dig deeper this week on how to make the most of what's left of seemingly normal times while preparing for the exceptional times ahead that may well become a much uglier new normal.
Meanwhile, the border crisis continues to unfold, and it's worse than even the gloomiest coverage indicates.
How bad? One major mainstream news outlet this week tried to spin the present seige as no seige at all, calling it just a myth.
When propagandists try to tell you something isn't happening that's clearly documented in an unrefutable manner, it can be taken as an indication of panic in high places.
While most our audience catches the program in replay, we do take calls or engage in chat when we're live from 1:00 to 3:00 o'clock on Friday afternoons. Feel free to chime in this week if you feel so inclined.
