The Legal Show No Poaching Allowed?

    in Legal

Attorney  Sarah Steele and writer Bennet Pomerantz discuss the subjects of the day.

The audience should know that although Ms. Steele is a licensed attorney, she is not offering legal advice in any capacity, is not establishing an attorney/client relationship with anyone listening to the show, and recommends that any listener of the show consult a local attorney for any legal advice they may require.

This show is about us discussing hot topics and how they relate to the law.

Tonight we discuss the practice of poaching (and the avoidance thereof) between employers.  Walt Disney Company, DreamWorks Animation, Sony Pictures Animation, Pixar and Lucasfilm were named as defendants in a class action lawsuit filed in San Jose, Calif., that alleges the companies sought to suppress wages by agreeing not to poach each other's workers, effectively rendering the employees powerless to leave their job in pursuit of employment at any of the other companies. Tune in and listen as the hosts weigh in on employee’s rights versus the rights of the employers.

Harvard Professor Defends Alien Abductees: The Life & Death of Dr. John Mack

    in Paranormal

Join Supernatural Girlz Patricia Baker & Helene Olsen as they interview filmmaker Denise Williams on the life and death of Dr. John Mack.  When Harvard psychiatry professor and Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Dr. John Mack, was asked to study people who claimed to be abducted by aliens, he was reluctant. But these people were desperate for help, and he was curious what the underlying psychiatric syndrome might be.

Dr. Mack studied over 200 abductees and found them to be sane. Headlines around the world mocked him. His friends and colleagues, even his wife, thought he had lost his mind. Harvard Medical School was mortified that their Head of Psychiatry was on national television saying that aliens may be real. The Dean appointed a secret committee to discredit Dr. Mack, ruin his reputation and take away his tenure. In spite of all this, Dr. Mack courageously stayed true to his new-found beliefs and stood by the abductees.

Dr. Mack was killed while crossing a street in the UK.  Another man named John Mack was also killed while crossing a street in the UK on the same day.  Coincidence or not?  You decide!

Denise Williams' first job in Hollywood was at Lucasfilm working on E.T. and Raiders of the Lost Ark. She was Story Editor and Creative Executive for 20th Century Fox, IndieProd and AIP. Denise was Vice President of Kopelson Entertainment when they produced PLATOON – which won an Academy Award for Best Picture. Denise is now CEO of MakeMagic Productions and is producing JOHN MACK, the true story of Harvard Psychiatry Professor and Pulitzer-prize winning author, Dr. John Mack.
