Discipline as Nourishment for the Soul

    in Spirituality

Conflict is like poison in our lives, painful and potentially ruinous, yet people will endure it for the soul’s nourishment.  Tune in this week as Nancy Herold and I discus discipline as the willpower and serious intent that advances spiritual work. Spiritual maturity trains and nourishes this power to build an invincible authenticity. Psychologically, we know that the ego is the adaptive function that nourishes, educates and controls various complexes within the psyche. But, this is only accomplished through discipline. The soul or higher-self orchestrates our lives internally but is isolated from direct physical involvement. Tonight’s show talks about the soul’s dependence upon the human ego to carry out ‘the Work’ in the physical world. Tune in and learn how discipline is the management of forces for the coordinated whole. As long as these forces are under the firm command of the ego, things proceed successfully. If this discipline breaks down, the ego loses control.

Hop Skip Jump Your Way To Manifestation w Marney Makridakis

    in Spirituality

I am reading the book Hop, Skip, Jump by Marnie K. Makridakis. It is a playful look at all of the beliefs we may have about life which are entirely too serious.

We may think we have to reinvent ourselves in order to be perfect. Perfection is probably not the best goal to have. Imperfection is more realistic, and is a happier state of mind which naturally leads to play.

Play is what this book is all about. We were playful as children and as adults we may have lost the touch of playfulness. Adapting playful attitudes into our lives can change everything. When I adapt a playful attitude towards myself, for instance, I am able to get more done. Time seems to expand. The world looks more hopeful, even in the dead of winter.

My name is Kate Loving Shenk RN BSN. I have been a nurse for three decades. I love having meaningful conversations with people about their Love of Life and what it means in relation to prayer and eradicating the fear of death. It makes me crazy how American society sweeps death away and no one speaks about it. This is why I’ve created the “Uprooting Our Fear Of Death: Bringing IT Out Of The Closet,”  "The Nursing Career Transformation Roundtable" to give nurses a voice, both Google Hanginars; “The Prayer Prescription Series” of which there are nine books on Amazon, (so far); and a daily podcast called "Kate Loving's P.R.A.Y.E.R.
