Grieving the Loss of a Spouse

    in Current Events

“During those last few months, the pressure was something of another world and as earthly life wept, the bleeding of our hearts began to mingle with eternity and hovered in a strange vapor. There was no song to be heard; just the rhythm of waiting; and life held its breath.”

The words of Susan VandePol in describing the loss of her beloved husband will draw you in. Teach you. Her book, Life After Breath, is a warm and honest companion and friend in the midst of a widow’s darkness and seclusion. It sets in place the foundation for her future with insight into a sacred Biblical revelation that will take your breath away.

If you have ever grieved or wish you knew words for comforting a grieving friend, you will want to join Jeannie and Maxine on The River today as they chat with author Susan VandePol.

MMSRS 61 - What Makes a good Military Spouse?

    in Military

Join host Dave Etter and assorted callers as we try and define what makes a good military spouse! Us guts do not have much in print on how to be that perfect partner while maintaining the standards set by the military branch we are forced to live with - so, what can we gleen from each other? This could get interesting, heated, nasty, sad, frustrating, fun.... who knows? You'll just have to listen and call in if it's during the live recording time!

MMSRS is a weekly 2-hour web-based call-in radio show (516-453-9167), hosted by Dave Etter, focusing on the needs of men married to serving military members, both men and women. Male Military Spouses are a small niche of military spouses, comprising of only 7%-8% of all military spouses. We feel left out, usually, at support functions - especially those designed with the spouses being identified as "wives"! We get cajoled at playgrounds where our kids play, from the mommies there who think we don't belong. We are proud SAHDs, who gave up our careers to follow our spouses as they dedicate thier lives to defend our country! Here, on this show, we come together and share beer recipes, diaper changing techniques, financial discoveries - manly things, for men! Typically airs Fridays at 9am CT, rated R for the cussing that can occur, and always available for download (podcast) immediately following each show.

    T2Q: Feb. 2, 2016 - #Flint, Co-Parenting, & Spouse or Life Partner?

    in Current Events

Flint, co-parenting, and the difference between a spouse and a life partner.

Tons of water is being donated to Flint, MI and that's a beautiful thing.  However, at what point is the root of the problem going to be resolved?  Is there a game plan for fixing the water supply and healing a poisoned city?  Is throwing money at bottles of water really helping?

A father, who doesn't live with the mother of his child, disciplines his daughter by taking her cell phone away from her.  The mother files theft charges against him for not returning it after his custody period (a weekend) was over.  Fair or foul?

Lastly, what's the difference between a spouse and a life partner and what are the pros and cons for both?  Is marriage really just a piece of paper?  Is being a life partner simply having one foot out of the door?

We'll discuss these things and more on tonight's episode of the Talk 2 Q Radio Show!  "No experts.  Just opinions."

    Show No. 566

    Scheduled for 75 mins.

The Whole Health Diet: A Transformational Approach to Weight Loss

THE WHOLE HEALTH DIET: A Transformational Approach to Weight Loss with Dr. Mark Mincolla

Americans are avid dieters, with nearly one third of our entire nation taking up dieting every year. Yet, according to The Food Addiction Institute, diets have a success rate of between ten and thirty percent. Dr. Mark Mincolla, natural health care practitioner and author of THE WHOLE HEALTH DIET: A Transformational Approach to Weight Loss, claims that this high failure rate is due to a flawed approach to dieting that focuses only on physical changes. What dieters need, Dr. Mincolla argues, is a more holistic approach that addresses the root causes of weight gain: our emotional, mental, and spiritual needs.

In THE WHOLE HEALTH DIET, Mincolla not only teaches readers how to tackle emotional eating; he shows them how to develop and maintain their own personalized, energy-calibrated nutrition plan. Based on the notion that each individual’s metabolism reacts differently to various foods, Mincolla shows dieters how to electromagnetically test themselves for metabolic food intolerances.

Mark Mincolla, Ph.D. is a legendary natural health care practitioner who has transformed the lives of many thousands of people over the past 30 years. Mark has integrated ancient Chinese energy techniques with cutting edge nutritional science in what has become his innovative Electromagnetic Muscle Testing system (EMT).  The main focus of his integrated east-west approach is what he calls Acutrition, as it zeros in on each individual’s unique nutritional needs.

Enabling or Empowering in Weight Loss: Know the Difference, Michelle Edmonds

    in Weight Loss

An enlightening, often overlooked topic. This tough love conversation about enabling , (a term more often used in addictions and substance abuse counseling)  and how the term applies to the relationship between a participant and their weight loss program.  In essence, the  weight loss program becomes the  enabler; as long as it is  there AND it WORKS, I can eat what I want and just start again!. The game is this: The clinician thinks the person is motivated to release weight; the disconnect in communication is that the client is really just testing their safety net, before  returning  to their old habits. This cycle needs to stop and  is physically dangerous, hence the reason for this broadcast

The program director and author of the program is Michelle Edmonds, M.A., M.Ed. Ms. Edmonds is affectionately  known as "The Godmother" of Wellness,  A/K/A  the "drill sergeant".A trained counseling psychologist, she is a dynamic  speaker in the area of  wellness and personal development. Ms. Edmonds is also the CEO and Station Manager of Serenity Radio Network (SRN), an empowerment  station that focuses on MIND, BODY, and SPIRIT
