And fitness expert Michael P. a former Green Berets, and combat veteran. He specializes in martial arts; health, wellness, and fitness education in Orlando, Florida. 

    In addition, we welcome our featured guest Mrs. Vanessa Lewis of Orlando, Florida. She shares with us her life growing up "Southern Style." By the year 2007, at a height of only 5'3, her weight tipped the scales at a whopping 206 lbs. So come on this journey and learn how she lost over 82 lb.., and Vanessa’s secrets to keeping it off.

    Vanessa’s personal story:  “Growing up in the South you eat large portions, at least my family did. Homemade biscuits, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens and cornbread and lets not forget my favorite sweet potato pie.

    On December 27, 2007 I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol problems.  I did not want to take any medication because I felt the side effects were worse than the cure. So I started walking that day.  I purchased a treadmill for home and started on my lifestyle change. Losing the weight was easy but keeping it off has been the hardest thing in my life.  I have kept it off for 6 years 2 months.”  As of today Vanessa is --- Age: 58 -- Weight: 124 lbs.

    Losing Weight With MJ & Veterans Fight for Medical MJ

    The show’s first guest is Michael Krawitz, a disabled United States Air Force Veteran, injured in an accident while serving on Guam. As Executive Director of Veterans for Medical Marijuana Access, Michael has been instrumental in changing the policies of the Veterans Administration on the use of medical marijuana by veterans. Even so many veterans continue to be kicked out of pain management and other VA programs as a result of their use of medical marijuana. Michael will speak about what the VA says about veterans using medical marijuana vs. what they are actually doing including his most recent meetings with VA officials on this issue.


    Marijuana munchies is the mantra, but far from sending users on a food binge, many report that marijuana can actually help in weight management and weight loss. Our second guest is Karen Pike who went from nearly 500 pounds to under 250 pounds and marijuana played a significant role in her weight loss. Karen will relate how marijuana helped her lose weight when nothing else worked and reveal the program she followed to make it happen.

    Weight loss is one of the hottest topics ever. Everyone seems to be trying to lose weight nowadays. But what’s the difference between weight loss & fat loss? People seem to use both terms interchangeably. After reading this post you’ll understand the difference between weight loss & fat loss, but also which one you should aim for and how. Weight Loss vs. Fat Loss. What’s the difference? Let’s start by defining weight loss & fat loss so you know what I mean here. Weight Loss. You want to lower your body-weight, the sum weight of your bones, muscles, organs, body fat, … Fat Loss. You want to lower your body fat, the amount of fat your body carries. Healthy goals are 10% body fat for men and 15% for women. Problems with Weight Loss. If you want to lose weight, it’s most likely because you carry too much fat. There are people who must lose weight, like athletes before a competition, but most want fat loss. So stop weighing yourself.

    Unreliable. Your body-weight can fluctuate daily since it’s influenced by your stomach/bowel/bladder content, water loss/retention, muscle loss/gain, fat loss/gain, … You’ll have no idea what’s going on. Irrelevant. 2 people with similar height can weigh the same, but look completely different because one has lower body fat than the the other. Check the picture at the top for an example. The last point shows why the BMI standard is flawed: it doesn’t take your body fat into account. Both guys in the top picture have the same BMI, but one is clearly healthier: his body fat is lower.
