This week we speak with Mr. Alex Livingston, son of Kyam Livingston, a 37 year old Brooklyn NY woman who died in police custody after repeated pleas for medical assistance were ignored. The family needs our support, prayers and assistance to get justice and ensure that no one else suffer this dehumanizing and fatal treatment.
I have said time and time again, that when meeting with families in these instances and under these circumstances, I am at a loss of words; no words can remove the pain. However, Kyam's mother is not at a loss of words. On Sunday, August 11, 2013, the victim's mother uttered repeatedly, "this is mine!" meaning, this pain is mine, this fight is mine, this human being that was left to die is mine! According to the family, Kyam's story, which is all too familiar to people in this struggle, is one of betrayal, hurt, pain, and the most egregious forms of disrespect and disregard towards human life!
Like we said on this program during August 2012, amid this fight for justice involving the Murder/Lynching of Ramarley Graham at the hands of the NYPD, Bronx NY, CPR, i.e.. Courtesy-Professionalism-and-Respect, can and does kill! (Theme by Constance Malcolm, Graham's mother.)

GROW, Spencer Livingston’s debut solo release (produced by Peter Malick), takes an easy-going yet thought-provoking alt-rock, folk-Americana romp through the backwoods of L.A.
Los Angeles native Spencer Livingston grew up on a steady diet of rock Americana. His early love of Neil Young and Tom Petty was reinforced by a strong dose of Wilco. The son of actor Barry Livingston, who played Ernie Douglas on the 1960’s sitcom My Three Sons, Spencer is a natural performer. And though he was born and raised on the hem of Hollywood, Livingston has been nourished by a down-to-earth, artistic community supportive of his naturally rootsy inclination. Says Livingston, “I definitely come from a very musical family who exposed me to a really wide variety of music with everything from The Beatles to Woody Guthrie. As far as the way I write, I do most of my writing by just observing things as I go through life. Sometimes I just have an idea that pops into my head when I am going through my day and I write it down. It is as simple as that.” Spencer’s sensitive lyrics and disarmingly familiar voice seem to pine for a simpler space and time right now.
At the still-tender age of 21, Spencer has already been playing guitar, writing and recording for over 9 years.
Spencer’s solo debut, GROW, features Milk Carton Kids’ Ken Pattengale playing steel guitar and mandolin on the neo-protest song, Have A Little Faith.
