Mr. Brett A. Scudder interviews Ms. Catherine Nieves from Healthy Kids NY

    in Lifestyle

Mr. Scudder interviews Ms. Nieves to talk about her work at Healthy Kids NY.

At Healthy Kids NY, our goal is to assist parents when making crucial decisions about their children's healthcare providers. Healthy Kids NY is a online referral resource, where parents can search for pediatric providers located in their own communities. Parents will also be able to read reviews from other parents, who live in the same community. Healthy Kids NY will also do their part in assisting parents by providing a seal of approval to the pediatric healthcare providers we have personally researched and visited their practice.

At Healthy Kids NY, we also provide daily updates on children health related news and school health requirements. We post children friendly events  and activities throughout NYC as well as within your own community. We also make sure that the events we post are either free or low cost!  Healthy Kids NY also searches the web for stylish clothes for children that are affordable too!  At Healthy Kids NY, we also take the guess work out of what to make for your picky eaters by posting daily healthy recipes that your children will actually like to eat!

Most importantly, Healthy Kids NY provides a community bulletin board where parents can reach out to other parents in their community or throughout NYC, and share their common experiences, or just to say hello.

And to our schools, Healthy Kids NY knows how difficult it is to have your students compliant with  the health screenings required by the NYC Dept of Ed. Healthy Kids NY wants to help. We are fostering relationships with different organizations everyday, to assist schools with their vision, dental, audible, and psychological screening. If you are in need of one or all of these screenings, we can help.

Our mission is to provide parents and schools with the resources needed so that every child is happy and healthy.

Men What Are You Doing to Empower Young Boys? (The Real Mentors Please Stand Up)

    in Entertainment

“Mentoring is critical if we intend to address much of the pain, abuse and abandonment that African American males suffer from. While we struggle to find mentors for young African American males, it is equally important to locate the fathers of these young brothers. A young boy’s first mentor should be his father and the other men in his family. Responsible fatherhood must be viewed as a necessary action step to begin the healing process among African American males.”

    What can we do?

As I examined this problem and searched for strategies that we could implement, one thing struck me in particular—the reality that approximately 50 percent of black children in the United States live in households without a father figure present (U.S. Census Bureau, 2012). I began to ask myself, Who is going to provide boys with the proper male guidance, direction, leadership, and structure that they desperately need? I want our youth to see adult males who is striving to fulfill their own potential and who is also committed to the growth and development of the younger generation. If our young boys had men in their lives whom they could relate to and identify with, they would look at their education differently and the probability for their success would increase exponentially.

Talking to Extraterrestrials on Soul Talk Radio with: Lisette Larkins

    in Spirituality

Lisette Larkins has had extraordinary extraterrestrial encounters since childhood. The importance of them was to reveal to her the possibility of experiencing a “chronic state of well-being” and to inspire the recognition that, as spiritual beings in human bodies, we are designed to create to the same degree and with the same ability as extraterrestrials do! This means that the very purpose of our soul is to allow our imagination to run free and to be, do, and have anything and everything we want.

We are designed to be Creative Beings! When we are not in the process of creating, we are actually spiraling downward. But we cannot create what we want when we are not feeling good.

Filmmaker Joe Basile -- Director & Writer of WEST END

    in Radio

Filmmaker Joe Basile’s movie WEST END premiered at Asbury Park’s historic Paramount Theatre on, April 6th, 2013 and was honored by the Garden State Film Festival with Best Homegrown Feature Award. The same year WEST END was awarded SOHO’s Pick at the Soho International Film Festival. Joe has been busy promoting his film and it will be screened at various East Coast locations including June 3 at the Hoboken International Film Festival, June 6 at the New Jersey International Film Festival, and June 30 at the Manhattan Film Festival. Joe states, “WEST END is my homage to the gritty crime dramas of the 70’s that made me want to make movies. Films that evoke emotion and make an audience feel the inner struggle of its characters.” The movie has a cast of talented actors including Eric Roberts, Neal Bledsoe, Joe Nieves, Peter Onorati, Melissa Archer, and Lou Martini, Jr. Joe feels extremely privileged to have shot the last film on the NJ coast before Superstorm Sandy’s devastation. This was the last movie shot in Seaside Heights, and the film captured some of the most iconic locations at the Jersey Shore. Actually WEST END was shot entirely on location at the Jersey Shore. Watch the trailer here. For Jersey native Joe Basile, the Director/Writer, it was imperative that WEST END be true to its roots. Join me as we catch up with Filmmaker Joe Basile and then visit After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.
