On this episode of The VDown, we welcome DDP Yoga Warrior and success story, Rev Kev, Kevin Tankersley! At 22 years old and at 305 pounds, Kevin was experiencing health problems. Bad knees, shortness of breath and chest pains were starting to own his life. Kevin knew that if he was going to have a life with his fiancee and his family, a change was needed. Kevin looked to his faith in God to help him find an answer.
In 2010 he found his answer. At a wrestling convention in the ATL, Kevin met DDP and saw Arthur's video, but it was winning an autographed DDP action figure that read " Do your YRG (DDP YOGA) or else!" that was his sign from God that he had been looking for. After 4 months of DDP Yoga, Kevin lost 107 lbs! As life does sometimes, it got in the way and Kevin did gain much of his weight back.
Kevin is now on the comeback trail of owning his life again and owning DDP Yoga and is now back to fitting into a size medium shirt! So tune on Tuesday, March 31st at 5 pm CT/ 6 pm ET and listen to Kevin's story of owning life, falling off and coming back with a vengence and about the value of never giving up on your dreams or yourself. If you can't catch us live you can always listen later at www.thedown.webstarts.com, www.blogtalkradio.com/vdown or dowload on iTunes. In 2013, Benjamin F. "BJ" Armstrong, a career naval officer and aviator, wrote/edited the book 21ST CENTURY MAHAN, published by the U.S. Naval Institute Press (USNI Press – @USNIBooks). Widely reviewed and extremely well received, the book was based upon the premise that the ideas presented in the writings of American seapower theorist Alfred Thayer Mahan were still relevant in the 21st century, more than a century after the publication of his seminal work, THE INFLUANCE OF SEAPOWER UPON HISTORY. Armstrongs book revived a lively discussion about the relevance and merits of seapower in the present day, and the idea that the tenets Mahan put forth in the late 1800s, were still relevant in a world being defined by new technologies and emerging world powers.
Now, in 2015, Armstrong has published a new book in what has become USNI Press's emerging "21st Century" series of books with 21ST CENTURY SIMS, based upon the career and writings of Adm. William Sims. A true among the naval leaders of the early 20th century, Sims is less well known for his vast published works on naval leadership, particularly as they apply to junior officers. Now Mr. Armstrong has collected and edited them, in a compact work that provides new insights into this fascinating military personality from a century ago.
This week, Benjamin Armstrong joins author, historian, journalist, and documentary filmmaker John D. Gresham (@greshamj01) on Military Monday (#MilitaryMonday on the Writestream Radio Network (@Writestream)) to talk about his new book, along with his editorship of the new "21st Century" book series for USNI Press. This should be a lively hour of history, books, and publishing, and listeners are invited to call in and discuss their ideas and questions with both gentlemen.
Custer's Luck Radio Show host Jean Barto describes the wedding and brief honeymoon of George Armstrong Custer and Elizabeth Bacon on 9 February 1864, and also discusses Custer's exploits during the Kilpatrick-Dahlgren Raid on Richmond later in the month.
One of the challenges for all of us on the spiritual path is staying connected to our true identity as spiritual beings on an adventure in the physical world. We came here with that understanding, but remembering it and actually living life from that perspective isn’t always easy. Sometimes we need a reminder.
Reminding us of that reality has been one of the consistent themes of the spiritual teachings Jack Armstrong has received over the years. We will be discussing that challenge and the many ways it can appear in our lives, and Jack will share excerpts from his books and from his unpublished writings from Source that offer a helpful perspective on it.
For more than 35 years, Jack Armstrong has been a reluctant, yet willing, conduit for receiving and transcribing remarkable spiritual teachings through a form of channeling known as Inner Dictation -- the same phenomenon through which A Course in Miracles was received.
In 2008 he published his first book, Lessons from the Source: A Spiritual Guidebook for Navigating Life’s Journey, and last year he published two more – From the Source: An Introduction to Channeling, and You Don’t Need to Conduct the Orchestra; Lessons on Letting Go, Trusting and Allowing.
Jack is an explorer on the spiritual path whose life’s journey has included stops as a nonprofit executive, Peace Corps volunteer, congressional candidate, small business owner, actor, voiceover artist, and hospice volunteer. He lives on Bainbridge Island, Washington, and strives to practice the lessons he has received.
