Unfriending on Facebook is a bit more complicated than choosing to end a friendship in the real world. How? Because when you choose to end a friendship in the real world you usually do so by way of gradually stepping back from a friendship. It usually does not happen abruptly and overtly. Instead, you part ways over time by becoming less and less present in each other’s lives. You stop calling each other or replace the calls with texts. You stop inviting each other to hang out as friends. You become less and less available until one day you look up and notice that the two of you have totally drifted apart and are virtual strangers who used to be close.
However, when you choose to part ways with someone on Facebook, there’s really no roundabout way to do it. You either hit the unfriend button or you don’t. And the person on the receiving end of the unfriending will know that you have unfriended them. The only way it may not be that apparent is if it’s an individual who uses Facebook primarily for business and has thousands of friends or if you were the one who initiated the connection by sending them the friend request. In that case, they probably won’t even notice or care because you’re really not friends in the true sense of the word and there was no love loss and no hard feelings. But what do you do, if you are struggling with the notion of unfriending someone? In this episode, Cassandra Mack will discuss when to unfriend on Facebook and how to do it like a grown up.

"Walking into our stories of hurt can feel dangerous. But the process of regaining our footing in the mist of struggle is where our courage is tested and values are forged. Our stories of struggle can be big ones, like the loss of a job or the end of a relationship, or smaller ones, like a conflict with a friend or colleague. Regardless of magnitude or circumstance, the rising strong process is the same. We reckon with our emotions and get curious about what we're feeling. We rumble with our stories until we get to a place of truth. Until it becomes nothing short of a revolution in our lives. It's how we cultivate wholeheartedness." -@BreneBrown #mgcc #RWRTLive @RealWomRealW8t
