    in Education

Author and Newspaper Owner, Henry Bibb a self-liberated black man gained his freedom in 1837. However he returned to Kentucky to try and rescue his wife and daughter. On the first attempt, he was recaptured and his whole family was sold south to a Mississippi plantation owner.

They escaped together, but were set upon by wolves and recaptured. Henry managed to get away again, but despite all his efforts, could not free his beloved Malinda and their little girl, Frances.

Henry Bibb became an eloquent lecturer, author and community organizer.  http://bit.ly/HenryBibb_LoveAds

In September 1851, as a result of the new Fugitive Slave Law, Mr. Bibb called a conference to be held in Toronto to discuss whether or not Canada was the best place for African Americans to seek freedom.

More than 50 delegates came to the North American Convention, also called “The Convention of Coloured Freemen.”

Henry and Mary also started a newspaper, The Voice of the Fugitive, in January, 1851. The Voice of the Fugitive was the first anti-slavery paper published in Canada by people of African descent. It was a very important means of communicating with Underground Railroad supporters, and with the general public. The Bibbs’ newspaper also provided information useful in the resettlement of former slaves and free Black Americans in the British colony of Canada West (Ontario). A network of agents in the U.S. and Canada collected from subscribers and sent the money to Henry and Mary so they could run the newspaper.

Mr. Bibb's autobiography, Narrative of the Life and Adventures of Henry Bibb, An American Slave publicized the horrors of slavery. It was published in 1849 and became very popular reading, helping to further the cause of anti-slavery in North America and even in Europe.

Healing from the trauma of injustice and dehumanization with a liberated soul

    in Lifestyle

It is a unique trauma when it is inflicted upon one human by another, or by another group of humans. It can be particularly devastating when a human being is violated by others of the same species. And we are pretty much singularly unique as a species in terms of perpetrating evil and conducting heinous acts with no other purpose other than dehumanization.

Rape. Murder. Abuse. Humiliation. Torture. Brutality. Heartlessness. Cruel authoritarianism. Misogyny. Mass violence. And countless other forms of anthropocentric evil; countless other types of vile dehumanization; countless other ways humans have learnt to inflict suffering upon each other and upon our non-human family.

The resulting trauma lasts a lifetime.

The pain and hurt is even tougher to deal with if we feel like justice, however we might define it, has not been served.

Considering how few of these incidents of trauma come to light and how most forms of “justice” are in the hands of some of the most unjust, traumatizing institutions this world has ever seen, such as the authoritarian state and its armed mercenaries, it’s safe to say that the overwhelming majority of trauma inflicted by humans upon other humans does not see true justice being served.

But that doesn’t mean we cannot heal. It doesn’t mean we cannot liberate ourselves. And it certainly doesn’t mean that your trauma has defeated you.

This piece is aimed at taking a step towards healing and liberating oneself from such trauma...

We're back with yet another day in the life of the happiest guy...my name is Sri. I'm a healer, wannabe writer, failed activist turned stand up comedian, and aspiring mama elephant. And I can't stop talking...

GOD REVEALS HIMSELF TO US TROUGH HIS WORD!

    in Christianity

GOD REVEALS HIMSELF TO US TROUGH HIS WORD!

    BIBLEBOOKCLUB: OT:EXODUS 19:16-21:21, NT: MATTHEW 24:1-28, PSALM 29:1-11, PROVERBS 7:6-23

In Exodus 19, Moses and the Israelites came out of Egypt and God led them to Mt Sinai in the desert. There was a great thunder and lightning storm over the mountain. They heard a long, loud blast from a rams horn. The people trembled when Moses led them to the mountain to meet God! The mountain was covered with smoke because God descended the mountain in the form of fire and the mountain shook with a violent earthquake. As Moses spoke to God, God thundered his reply. God told Moses" I am Jehova your God who liberated you from your slavery! You may not worship no other God than me! FRIENDS, YESTERDAY, GOD REVEALED HIMSELF TO MOSES AND TO HIS PEOPLE AND GAVE THEM HIS LAWS TO OBEY. TODAY, GOD IS CALLING US TO COME OUT OF THE WORLD AND COME TO HIS MOUNTAIN TO HEAR HIS VOICE AND OBEY HIS WORD! CHOOSE TODAY, WHOM YOU WILL SERVE! Proverbs 7:1-3 (TLB) Follow my advice, my son; always keep it in mind and stick to it. Obey me and live! Guard my words as your most precious possession. Write them down, and also keep them deep within your heart.

    CREATING YOUR OUT-OF-THE-BOX LIFE

    in Business

WORKSHOP WEDNESDAYS RADIO WITH HOST TONY GAMBONE AND SPECIAL GUEST L. T. LEWIS:

L.T. Lewis - I help Believers to be liberated by kick boxing so that they may experience a more joyful, healthy, and abundant faith-filled life.

No, not the literal martial arts forms of Kick Boxing but rather the spiritual, emotional, and physical forms. The forms that hinder, limit and in some instances stop Believers from experiencing all the joy, health and abundance of a faith-filled life consistent with the truths found in the Scriptures.

I hang my clergy collar on Jesus’ answer to the tempter as recorded in Matthew 4:4, “But He [Jesus] answered [the tempter] and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God’.” I don’t live by asking myself what Jesus “would” do. I live by what Jesus “did” do and what He “did” say.

He said that He came not to judge the world but that the world through him might have life and have it more abundantly. He said He came to make men [women] free. He said for us not to fear those that can kill the body but not the soul. And these are just a few things that come to my mind immediately.

But these words that Jesus spoke are part of the reason why I do what I do. I am powered by faith. To believe that with God “all” things really are possible. To create the out-of-the-box life that Jesus Christ came to give. To manifest the “greater works” making legacy impact.

Cafecito Break - Unbound with Khadijah Moon Ali-Coleman

    in Spirituality

Cafecito Break with Rosangel Perez and Ruthie Guten and Special Guest - Khadijah Z. Ali-Coleman. Our topic "Unbound"

When Khadijah lost her friend and music collaborator Derrick "D.Marq" Smith, 33, in 2012, due to a stroke, she instantly took to writing to work through her feelings. The single "Unbound" was written almost immediately, a message to remind herself that life was still to be lived despite her intense sadness. The single was released in 2013 and led to performances throughout the East Coast as she worked on subsequent singles and worked to build up her interest in writing music and performing again.  Less than a year later after releasing "Unbound", the unthinkable happened, and she lost her mother in a tragic car accident. Music once again became solace as she wrote out her feelings regarding the unresolved relationship she had with her mother who she loved intensely and who had had her at 19, raising her alone all her life along with her four younger siblings.

ABOUT: A playwright, poet, singer & emerging filmmaker, Moon is founder of Liberated Arts Music Group, the brand she brought to life in 2008 as an online digital community for artists.  Since then, she has produced book anthologies, music & theatrical shows through Liberated Muse.
