Voices Carry for Animals # 64

    in Pets

    Hosted By Debbie Dahmer

Guest will be: Michael Webermann - Executive Director of FARM -Farm Animal Rights Movement

Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit organization working to end the use of animals for food through public education and grassroots activism. We believe in the inherent self-worth of animals, as well as environmental protection and enhanced public health.

FARM’s mission is to end the use of animals for food. In support of this mission, we operate on several levels.
On the grassroots level, which accounts for the majority of our efforts, we engage likely target audiences, according to their interests, and nudge them along the vegan path. Behind the scenes, we develop resources that make the vegan lifestyle more “doable.” We also support the animal rights movement and grassroots groups around the world.

FARM is funded primarily by contributions from individuals who care about animal rights, human health, and environmental integrity.

FARM grew out of the Vegetarian Information Service, which was formed in 1976 to disseminate information on the benefits of plant-based eating on consumer health, animal protection, and environmental integrity.

FARM was officially launched as an animal rights organization in July 1981, along with other groups forming the modern US animal rights movement, at the "Action For Life" Conference in Allentown (PA). The conference brought seasoned leaders of the established vegetarian movement together with animal rights advocates searching for a national organizational outlet for their passion.

Voices Carry for Animals # 63

    in Pets

    Hosted By Debbie Dahmer

Guests will be: Nancy Blaney - Senior Federal Policy Advisor at the Animal Welfare Institute & Dr. Mary Lou Randour, AWI Senior Advisor for Animal Cruelty Programs and Training

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This is the perfect time to remind your legislators of the strong relationship between domestic violence and animal abuse and to ask them to cosponsor the Pet and Women Safety (PAWS) Act, H.R. 1258/S. 1559.

Victims of domestic violence fear not only for their own safety, but also for that of their companion animals. Having no safe place for their pets prevents many victims from leaving their abusers. The PAWS Act helps to remove that roadblock.

When there is violence in the home, it can be directed at everyone—spouse or partners, children, elderly family members, and companion animals. Abusers are well aware of the bond between their victims and their pets, and they exploit that bond to frighten, control, manipulate, and even "punish" their human victims. A number of surveys bear the grim statistics.

The What If Show featuring Therese Stoa | The Magic of Animals

    in Self Help

    The Magic of Animals

Have you ever looked at an animal and envied their ease of life, the joy they have with their body or the exuberance of life they have the capacity to portray in every moment as they choose?

Imagine what your life would be if you functioned more like an animal; as an infinite being that perceive, know, be and receive. Who receive life with ease, joy and glory. What would change?

If faced with a problem you would have access to the joy, the ease and the potency of an animal, would you be any different in the world?

Most people walk around in their life trying to navigate the judgements, their awareness, their choices and the people they meet more or less consciously.

Using the tools from Access cosciousness™ you can start to unlock some of the magic that the animals can invite you to and that you can invite the animals to.

Voices Carry for Animals # 67

    in Pets

    Hosted By Debbie Dahmer

Guest will be: Denise Cohn- CEO Dogs Deserve Better

Denise have been rescuing dogs for over 30 years. Denise was a foster Mom for a GA rescue for many years and had as many as 42 foster dogs at one time. Typical was 20. Denise has five rescue dogs of her own. Currently Denise is the CEO of Dogs Deserve Better in Smithfield, VA. DDB takes in the abused, neglected, chained and penned dogs from all over the country. These dogs have seen the worse of humans. They have suffered from no shelter, sometimes no food, riddled with tick borne disease and most have heartworm as well. They have no socializtion with humans and are desperate for affection. To watch them blossom into the dogs they have always wanted to be is heart warming and simply amazing. The transformations are spectacular. Unlike most rescues, The VA shelter is actually a home. They don' t have kennels. The dogs live in the house, with the staff, and learn how to be a 'normal' dog. After they receive the medical treatment they need and are socialized, they are adopted to new homes and a family of their own.

Dogs Deserve Better reside in the former Michael Vick dog fighting compound. His property has been transformed into a rescue shelter. The dogs get their baths in the luxurious jacuzzis.

Dogs Deserve Better is a non-profit which survives solely on donations. All donations are tax deductible.

Dogs Deserve Better, First Place Winner of the Chase Pet Protector Award, is a voice for chained and penned dogs, whose sadness speaks only through the eyes.

Renee is born and raised in Houston, Texas and is the Founder of Rowdy Girl Sanctuary – she was a dyed in the wool city girl before moving to the Angleton TX Ranch in 2009. She fell in love with all the farm animals and had no idea that her life was about to be forever changed as a result of her husbands ranching business. After witnessing time and time again the baby calves going to the sale barn she became more and more depressed about the business. She drew the line in the sand October 2014, went vegan as a result and dove into researching every farm sanctuary. She contacted every leader in the vegan movement and was determined to do whatever she could to create sanctuary out of what once was a beef cattle ranch on their ranch.

    Her background is broad:
