LAXART is an Art Gallery that is at the forefront of Community Arts. In collaboration with the Hammer Museum, LAXART is currently showcasing "MADE IN L.A." which is the first large scale biennial survey of the work of Los Angeles-based Artist. On this edition of The Pulse, LAXART/Associate Curator, Heber Rodriguez, talks about the Gallery's presence on La Cienega and discusses "MADE IN L.A." Karla Diaz of Slanguage Studio also joins the conversation by taking The Pulse through LAXART's current Exhibit, "Slanguage", which is part of the "MADE IN L.A." survey. Slanguage Studio is also 1 of 5 finalist to vie for The Hammer's 100,000.00 Mohn Award.

Author Rebecca Bloom graduated Brown University, studied in Paris to be a chef, traveled extensively throughout Europe, and worked in a number of kitchens in Los Angeles, including Campanile and Jiraffe. She started her own fashion design and jewelry company, Speckles by Rebecca Bloom, specializing in one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories.
She drastically changed course professionally again in favor of writing. With a focus on art, lifestyle, events, and food, Rebecca was the Executive Editor and Editor at Large for Los Angeles Confidential magazine for over two years and worked on special projects for Niche Media.
Rebecca sits on the board of LAXART, a new contemporary art based nonprofit organization in LA, which supports a renewed vision for the potential of independent art spaces for which is the Board Chair. She served on the Museum of Contemporary Art's benefit committee for FRESH, the museum’s bi-annual silent auction fundraiser. She helped host pARTy 2007, a toast to young patrons from LACMA, MOCA, Music Center, LA Opera, Hammer and Getty.
Rebecca's debut novel, Girl Anatomy (Harper Collins, 2002) and her second, Tangled Up In Daydreams (Harper Collins, 2003) were both featured in numerous national and regional publications .
Her work is included in a collection of short stories, Have I Got A Guy for You, released April 2008 by Adams Media. Now Rebecca tries to snag precious free time to write between diapers. Eat, Drink, and Be Married available on Amazon.
