St. Laurence - St. Lawrence (also rendered St. Laurence) was one of the seven deacons of the Church of Rome and was martyred under the Emperor Valerian on the 10th of August 258, four days after Pope Sixtus II and his companions. Little is known of the life of Saint Lawrence. What is clear is that he was immensely popular with the Christians of Rome. A basilica was built over St. Lawrence’s tomb in the field of Varano near the Via Tiburtina fifty years after his death, by the Emperor Constantine, and the anniversary of his martyrdom was kept in Rome as a solemn feast. In fact, by the sixth century, the Feast of Saint Lawrence was one of the most important feasts throughout much of western Christendom. His name occurs (with Sixtus’s) in the Roman Canon of the Mass (Eucharistic Prayer #1). This excerpt from a sermon delivered by St. Augustine in about 400 AD on the occasion of the Feast of St. Lawrence (Sermo 304, 1-4, PL 38, 1395-1397) is used in the Roman Office of readings on August 10 with the accompanying biblical reading taken from Acts 6:1-6 and 8:1-8, on the selection ministry of Stephen, Philip and the first deacons of the Jerusalem Church.

We were honored to feature Dr. Laurence Klotz, an acknowledged authority on active surveillance for the management of low-risk prostate cancer. Dr. Klotz is Professor in the Department of Surgery, University of Toronto Division of Urology, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto, ON, Canada.
Dr. Klotz and panelists discussed evidence supporting value of active surveillance as a management strategy for men who are diagnosed with low- or very low-risk forms of prostate cancer. Dr. Klotz spoke particularly about factors that are key to the high-quality implementation of active surveillance, including accumulating evidence that true Gleason 6 disease is not associated with any significant risk for metastasis, importance of early identification of patients who do, in fact, have real risk for disease progression over time, are therefore not good candidates for active surveillance, and managing these patients, evolving strategies to minimize need for overly frequent (i.e., annual) biopsies, including potential role of multiparametric MRIs and new biomarkers, as also whether active surveillance is appropriate for a subset of men with Gleason 3 + 4 = 7 disease who have a very small volume Gleason pattern 4 disease.
On the panel were Mike Scott, Thomas N. Krik, Tony Crispino and Walter Green Jr.
Frederick Anthony "Freddie" Jackson (born October 2, 1956) is an American soul singer. He was an important figure in R&B during the 1980s and early 1990s. Among his well-known hits are "Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake)", "Jam Tonight", "Do Me Again," and "You Are My Lady".Born in Harlem, Jackson was trained as a gospel singer from an early age, singing at the White Rock Baptist Church. There he met Paul Laurence, who would later become his record producer and songwriting partner. After completing school, Jackson joined Laurence's group LJE (Laurence Jones Ensemble) and played the New York nightclub scene. During the early 1980s, Jackson moved to the West Coast and sang lead with the R&B band 'Mystic Merlin', but soon returned to New York to work with Laurence at the Hush Productions company. He sang on demo recordings of Laurence's compositions, and also served as a backing singer for Melba Moore after she saw his nightclub act.
In 1985, Jackson landed a recording contract with Capitol Records, and issued his debut album, Rock Me Tonight. The Laurence-penned title track stormed the R&B charts, spending six weeks at number one, and made Jackson an instant hit on urban contemporary radio. "You Are My Lady" gave him a second straight R&B chart-topper, and also proved to be his highest-charting single on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #12. With "He'll Never Love You (Like I Do)" and "Love Is Just a Touch Away" also hitting the R&B Top Ten, Rock Me Tonight topped the R&B album chart and went platinum. Jackson issued the follow-up Just Like the First Time 1986, on the heels of a number one R&B duet with Melba Moore, "A Little Bit More" (from her album A Lot of Love).
This documentary gives a different look at Marilyn Monroe from inside her head using notes and letters that she generated juxtaposed with the actions and assertions of those around her. Whether you see Marilyn Monroe as troubled, a sexpot, tragic, lost, or a bubbleheaded blond you are sure to be enlightened with this kaleidoscope of well-interpreted readings of her words by brilliant actors.
I have always believed Ms. Monroe's story was slightly tragic from a psychological perspective, but her life was much more complex. She was so much more intelligent and strategic than she has often been credited. She was like all of us who want to achieve some major mark in life, to be loved and respected, while haveing someone we can trust with our deepest thoughts, desires and life. She is an absolute representative of all of us when we are betrayed, let down, belittled, and ignored when the world refused to see past some physical representation of our true selves. Whether we are outside the average height, weight, build, and appearance of some kind. We are all more than our "meatsuits," and Marilyn Monroe went above and beyond her celebrity she gave us the opportunity to look inside ourselves and accept our incredible self-worth, no matter who we are.
