Central Coast grandmother Jane Pooley hardly fits the stereotype of a UFO believer. But the 51-year-old says she saw one last week.
She described watching a craft with rotating lights moving silently above Brisbane Water, near where she lives - an area recognised as one of Australia's UFO hotspots.
"I'm a conservative, Catholic, middle-aged, registered nurse and I've worked in an emergency department, so I've seen some pretty weird things. Nothing seems to surprise me much any more," she said.
"I believe in the Christian faith but I don't think it negates it (the possibility of ET life)."It is the quest for indisputable evidence which drives Dr Ragbir Bhathal, director of the Australian Optical SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) project. Night after night for the past 10 years, the University of Western Sydney engineering lecturer has peered through a powerful telescope on the university's campus, looking for flashes of light from alien civilisations.
Other SETI projects search for radio transmissions but Dr Bhathal believes such technology could be obsolete for extraterrestrial intelligence.
"We think if the ET are so much more advanced than us, they wouldn't be sending signals by radio waves but by using laser beams," he said, explaining that lasers carry more than a million times more information than a radio wave.A decade of searching has proved fruitless but Dr Bhathal said astronomical discoveries over the past 20 years provides a breakthrough could be close.

On the June 3, 2015 edition of "Nature Of Reality Radio" I welcome Dr. Bruce Maccabee who has experience in the navy, physics, and UFO research. In 1972 we began work at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Dahlgren, Virginia. He has worked on optical data processing, generation of underwater sound with lasers and various aspects of the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) and Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) using high power lasers. He has been active in UFO research since late 1960s when he joined the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) and was active in research and investigation for NICAP until its demise in 1980. He became a member of MUFON in 1975 and was subequently appointed to state Director for Maryland, a position he no longer holds. In 1979 he was instrumental in establishing the Fund for UFO Research and was the chairman for about 13 years. He presently serves on the National Board of the Fund.
His UFO research and investigations have included the Kenneth Arnold sighting, the McMinnville, Oregon (Trent) photos of 1950, the Gemini 11 astronaut photos of September 1966, the New Zealand sightings of December 1978, the Japan Airlines sighting of November 1986, the numerous sightings of Ed Walters and others in Gulf Breeze, Florida, 1987 - 1988, the "red bubba" sightings,1990-1992 (including his own sighting in September, 1991), the Mexico City video of August, 1997, the Phoenix lights sightings of March 1997, the Mexican Air Force case of March, 2004, the Iran Jet Case of Sept. 1976 and many others. He has also done historical research and was the first to obtain the "flying disc file" of the FBI (the REAL X-Files!).
Dr. Maccabee has also written articles and books related to the UFO phenomenon and has spoken at UFO lectures as well.

Dr Matt Kreinheder acknowledges that he is a Chiropractor, not a medical doctor. He will not give you medical advice. Its unlikely he will recommend vitamins, nutrients, lasers, oxygen therapy or an other adjunctive / alternative treatment. All those things are great and its up to you to decide what form of intervention you’re doing with your health care providers.
Many people expect him to be anti-chemo,He's not. It’s a tool, and like any tool it has a time and a place.
Here is the truth he has to to offer you. Illness and disease are manifestations of a life that is not moving in the correct direction or is intentionally trying to extinguish. These are conversations in consciousness. His goal is to teach you how to have enough awareness, knowledge and emotional and mental space to understand where you are in your journey through this life. This includes the role cancer is playing to wake you up to a larger perception of yourself and perhaps a greater mission in life.
The ever increasing pace of aesthetic medical innovation recently saw another exciting new product added to the clinical 'toolkit'. Reducing a double-chin, or fat under the jawline, without surgery or liposuction has been difficult until now. Last week the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved a new injection therapy called Kybella (Kythera Biopharmaceuticals, Inc.) which was approved for the reduction of moderate to severe fat deposits under the chin. The active ingredient in Kybella, deoxycholic acid, dissolves fat, allowing dermatologists and aesthetic surgeons to resculpt the chin area without surgery. Dr. Heidi Waldorf, an internationally respected expert in the field of noninvasive skin rejuvenation and dermatology, including the use of soft tissue augmentation, botulinum toxins, topical cosmeceuticals, lasers, and other devices, was a lead clinical investigator on Kybella leading to its approval. Dr. Waldorf is also Director of Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology at The Mount Sinai Hospital and Associate Clinical Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine of Mount Sinai University and sees patients in Nanuet, New York, at Waldorf Dermatology & Laser Associates, and at Mount Sinai Hospital. Being involved as a lead clinical investigator with new products that may enable better patient results, and possibly even change and influence how certain procedures are performed, is an exciting part of any doctor's career. Listen to the Aesthetic Insider radio for a special glimpse into how Dr. Waldorf combines running a successful practice with important clinical investigation. For many generations, it has been questioned and debated. Many long hours and much time has been spent pouring over the evidence, yet with no clear answers and no hard proof.
However, today, more evidence keeps piling up that proves the ancients did have technology far beyond what we can even begin to imagine.
