He was the first to pilot a balloon across the Sahara Desert, the first to cross Australia, and he flew the first solar balloon across the English Channel. Nott also designed, built, and piloted the Nazca Prehistoric Balloon, using only methods and materials available to the Pre-Inca Peruvians a thousand years ago

    Who’s the Bad Guy?

    in News

For 20 years, Michael Lesher has been attempting to shine the light on child sex predators in close-knit Orthodox Jewish communities.

Now Lesher, an Orthodox Jew himself, has a new book out, Sexual Abuse, Shonda and Concealment in Orthodox Jewish Communities, which analyzes how and why cases of child sexual abuse have been systematically concealed in Orthodox Jewish communities. The book examines many such cover-ups in detail, showing how denial, backlash against victims, and the manipulation of the secular justice system have placed Orthodox Jewish community leaders in the position of defending or even enabling child abusers.

The book also examines the generally disappointing treatment of this issue in popular media, while dissecting the institutions that contribute to the cover-ups, including two—rabbinic courts and local Orthodox “patrols”—that are more or less unique to Orthodox Jewish communities.

Finally, the book explores the cultural factors that have contributed to this tragedy, and concludes with hopes and proposals for future reform.

Behind the Headlines: Paradise Stolen - Interview with Stefan Verstappen

    in News

This week we're talking once again to Canadian author, artist, and martial arts expert, Stefan Verstappen. Stefan has a professional background in communications and business management and has travelled extensively throughout East Asia, where he has studied oriental art, culture and Kung Fu.

Stefan is the author of 'The art of urban survival' from which the viral YouTube video documentary 'Defense Against the Psychopath' was taken.

We previously spoke to Stefan about the video he produced on the topic of historical cycles of human civilization and the manner in which they appear to repeat. In his video, Stefan makes the case that we are currently in the final stage of our cycle of history, defined, like all others, by widespread chaos. Historically, only small groups of people survived the periods of destruction that defined the end of a cycle, and they did so by forming themselves into tight-knit communities with specific organizational structures.

More recently Stefan has produced 3 more short videos on the theme of "Paradise Stolen" where he explores the specific reasons for our current state of societal chaos, the alternatives to the way we live today, and what we can do to face the future and survive.

Join us this Sunday May 3rd 2015 from 2-4pm EST (8-10pm CET) as we discuss the state of the world, how it got that way, and what we can all do about it.

"The Downloaded Soul" (1 Samuel 18:1)

    in Christianity

"As soon as he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit unto the soul of David, and Jonathan  loved him as his own soul". What does the Word say in regards to manner in which we treat one another? What does the Word say in the way in which we should love each other? We must download the soul of another...

Tune in on April 23rd at 7pm as we discuss 1Samuel 18:1 !
