Writestream Tuesday: "The Notice" with author Daniella Bova

    in Books

Tears of Paradox author Daniella Bova returns to Writestream with Daria Anne to discuss her new release, The Notice, the second book in her series, Storms of Transformation.

Daniella Bova was born and raised in Chester County, PA in a traditional, loving family. While she and her sister were young, their baby sister - born with Down Syndrome - died at the age of three. This traumatic experience changed their family forever.

Painfully shy and called a "Day Dreamer" by her mom, Daniella was what some would call an "average" student. Although she had difficulty paying attention in class, at home she was an avid reader and learner. By the age of 10, she could sew by hand and machine, embroider, and knit. In the late 70s, she came of age and married her high school sweetheart.

Years later, the pivotal events of September 11, 2001 would prompt her to see the world differently. She started paying attention to politics and national/international events, which ultimately led to the inspiration for her dystopian series.

Join us for a great interview with Daniella Bova!

Deepertruth: Our Lady Of Soulfanish-Damascus Syria 1980's, 8:00 Central

    in Religion

    Father René LAURENTIN

It happened in the Orient. This is not a tale of "A thousand and one nights". It is an astonishing document, truly disconcerting. We are in Damascus (Syria), the city where Saul of Tarsus was about to persecute the first Christians, and when he arrived...as a Christian, overcome by Christ. It is an Arab city where Christians are many, scattered among various confessions, the differences and divergences of which emerged throughout history. One finds in it all the contrasts of the Middle East, with deep Christian roots.

It happened to Myrna on November 27th, 1982, at Soufanieh, a Christian quarter of Damascus, Syria: a small inexpensive icon, in a plastic setting frame, starts to ooze oil, drop by drop, enough to fill a saucer. Myrna is 18 years old. She is married to Nicolas since 7 months. She welcomes this oil as God's gift. Her husband had bought the icon during a trip to Bulgaria.(1)

Wise men and scientists, even theologians, may knit their brows.

Oil? What for, what does it mean ? We have lost the sense of signs. The post-conciliar ritual (Vatican II) has suppressed the anointing of oil to the catechumens, symbol of the combat which characterizes Christian life. This unction, similar to the one applied on wrestlers, who, thanks to it, have escaped the holds of the adversary, is today optional and generally omitted. But one has kept the "Holy Chrism", oil that anoints the priests, bishops, and every baptized, every confirmed, as a sign that all Christians participate to Christ's fellowship. Oil is a Christian language.

Knowing What You Believe: Truth for Society

    in Christianity

There are many issues that used to have clearer cut answers in our society, but the definitive nature of those answers has been diluted, and black and white truth has been grayed. Knowing truth is identifying what exactly has been grayed. It is holding to and speaking the truths that we live by, and that are best for our society!

I hear people say about things like abortion, "And who are you to judge?" if someone calls it killing or murder. INSERT A FACT INTO DISCUSSION: At about 18 days, the human being within the mother, not the body part within the mother, has its own beating heart and is genetically coded as an individual, distinctly different from that of the mother or father.

And no matter the issue, if we always say, "And who are you to judge?" we end up a society that places no judgment on immoral or harmful behavior committed by others. Or we say, "Let whoever is without sin cast the first stone" at every offense and apply it to every situation, then we forfeit our right as a people to knit the moral fabric of our nation.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says to not lean unto our own understanding, but to acknowledge God in all our ways, and He will give us direction! So, while our judgment is not one of spiritual condemnation and we should all treat one another with respect and human decency, we are to acknowledge God in all our ways as a people, and we are to make judgments, even collectively for others, of what is right and wrong.

So, as we continue to acknowledge God, we must also continue to uphold what we believe to be His standard, both in our own lives, and in this great nation of ours. The silence that the wayward in our society demands of us is becoming our society's very downfall!

This all starts when we know the truth of what a good and God-fearing nation looks like, and we are willing to speak it into existence!!!
