    The Louisiana Gubernatorial Runoff

    in Politics

From the primary election to the runoff, early voting has increased 47 percent among black voters and 30 percent among white voters. Early voting has also jumped in a number of the larger urban areas -- Caddo/Shreveport (109 percent increase), Orleans (98 percent increase) and East Baton Rouge (88 percent) -- according to Couvillon. That would appear to be good news for state Rep. John Bel Edwards, the Democratic candidate for governor, rather than U.S. Sen. David Vitter, the Republican. Edwards has also been ahead in recent runoff polls. But experts and political operatives warned against drawing too many conclusions from preliminary early voting turnout. The runoff election is a different story. It's expected to be a close election, and Democrats have efforts underway to get people to participate in early voting. The Democratic Party says it has people in every parish working on early voting efforts. After the primary election, the Edwards campaign even said it expected voter turnout to be higher overall in the runoff.NOLA.com

Charlie Cook says;"this is a make or brake election for the Democratic party in Louisiana'".

Social Justice: Traveling Back to Dark Ages

    in Current Events

Reading is fundamental to function in today's society, but now, too many adults in America and especially in Louisiana cannot read well enough to understand the instructions on a medicine bottle. Complete job or rental applications without help. Louisiana is 44th in the ranking of United States of America education achievement. Louisiana hasn’t made much progress in the past seven years in a national assessment of educational achievement. The most damning are Fs in academic achievement and academic achievement for low-income and minority students in its 2014 report. Superintendent of Education John White said Louisiana has always had an “F “in academic performance in the Chamber’s assessment.  Louisiana also received failing grades in return on investment, postsecondary and workforce readiness and international competitiveness. “What’s damning is we got a D in truth in advertising,” White said. “It says that when we call kids basic, it doesn’t mean our kids score as high as those in other states. It points out that we have low expectations. One of the problems is schools have not  expected outstanding achievements from high school students for decades.”

WORLD WIDE AFRICA THE VOICE OF THE PAN AFRICAN MOVEMENT

    in Politics

WHY DO WE NEED BLACK-HOSPITALS FOR BLACK PEOPLE

The establishment of a black university and a black hospital in our time is critical.  There was the killing on Monday of a young sister named Ann Brown 29, years old who was dragged for the hospital of St. Mary’s the hospital staff called the Richmond Heights Police Department who thought she was on drugs and carried her off to the police station where she died. Only minutes after being placed in the cell, her autopsy reveals no drug usage and death by blood clotting in here leg where she had an ankle sprain.

How could this happen with the Patients Bill of Rights you say. Well I have been turned away from hospitals in New Jersey this year, and in Louisiana, so I know this is real. to talk of Black History and not acknowledge the fact that medical treatment began in Egypt.  We had advanced surgical procedures that the greeks and Romans stole. Did you know that the Cesarian Section was performed first in Egypt?
