There is nothing subtle about Texas. There is a reason why we use the term “Texas-sized” to describe anything in life that’s exaggeratedly large, from posteriors, to bong hits, to jugs of beer. This boldness, naturally, extends to the Lone Star’s musical exports, loud n’ proud legendary artists like ZZ Top, Pantera, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, among many others. Now, firmly in that cocksure lineage, is a mighty bluesy metal band from McAllen, Texas aptly named, Sons Of Texas. The young quintet’s debut, Baptized In The Rio Grande—produced by the iconic Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God, Crowbar, Chiodos, Hatebreed)—is a Texas-sized portion of power metal grooves, dazzling guitar solos, strip joint/tailgate sing-along choruses, and soulfully charred vocal melodies. Sons Of Texas was spawned in McAllen, Texas, a valley town without the music legacy of Austin or Arlington. Sons Of Texas solidified in 2013 around a lineup of local all stars. The group is Mark Morales, vocals, Mike Villarreal, drums, Nick Villarreal, bass, Jon Olivarez, rhythm guitar, and Jes De Hoyos, lead guitar. Despite being just in their mid 20s, never having recorded an album, and having only existed for about a year, the guys play with seasoned authenticity and fiery brilliance. Baptized In The Rio Grande is an album for raising hell and enduring hard times. The record spans good old bad boy anthems like “Texas Trim” and “Baptized In The Rio Grande,” the stately ballad territory of the haunting “September,” and the dead end job-frustration of “Pull It And Fire.” The standout “Blameshift” showcases the guys have modern rock radio potential without sacrificing heft for hooks. 1st HOUR: Thom Hartmann's "The Big Picture" makes a year-end 2015 review and summarizes the rise of Sen. Bernie Sanders, Fed tinkering with the economy, the North Pole heat wave and more. Courtesy RT available over the air at the Topeka PBS-affiliate KTWU 11.2 everyday.
2nd HOUR: This is the last Intelligent Aboriginal Radyo (APNSPR) internet radio broadcast for the Gregorian calendar year of 2015 and features TheAngryindian and Guadalupe Morales wrapping up the sum-total of blatant injustice in North America w/ the case of a Native American woman being denied protection and due process of law by the Lawton PD from a local street gang she alleges brutally assaulted her in her home. (Special thanks goes out to Native American activist Johnnie Jae / @JohnnieJae for making me aware of this story) Besides the local PD refusing to report or investigate her attack, the local hospital (Comanche Memorial) like the police, refused to utilise a (standard) rape-kit, take photographs of her physical injuries or in any way fully document the event as a medical emergency. Further discourse looks at the public testimony of Antonio LeGrier on the US news programme CNN speaking on the police murder of his son Quintonio LeGrier and his neighbour, community activist Bettie Jones and why his grief should be a wake up call to the American African community to begin analysing institutional xenophobia from an international perspective.

The Force Media LLC, hand-crafted comic books (TM), presents: CruZader - Agent of the Vatican, an independent, original graphic novel by Omar Morales.
?Guest: Omar Morales: As usual before getting into the serious discussions, our host Jim Malliard likes to talk with our guests a little about themselves, and this time is no different when he asks Omar Morales about himself, a little bit about what got him involved in comics to begin with, and of course the inspiration for CruZader and everything, listening intently to the discussion before moving on to ask him what the definite difference is between comic books themselves, and graphic novels. An answer that a lot of fans of the genre themselves might even agree with when listening to the show!
