October was formally known as Lupus Awareness month, however in recent years Lupus awareness has been moved to the month of May in an effort to incorporate it with others events and to increase attention and fundraising to support Lupus awareness. Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body). Chronic means that the signs and symptoms tend to last longer than six weeks and often for many years.
In lupus, something goes wrong with your immune system, which is the part of the body that fights off viruses, bacteria, and germs. Lupus is a disease of flares where symptoms worsen and you feel ill or go into remissions where the symptoms improve.
Join Nakikia "MSKeepItMoving" on The Keep It Moving Blog Talk Radio Show with special guests Certified Health and Wellness Coach and T-shirt cut designer, Mattie Copeland and international bestselling author of His Purpose My Praise and co-creator of Organized Obstacles, Angel Barrino. I was asked to speak about this topic shortly after starting Blog Talk Radio. I said I would so here goes. The person wanted to know how to keep motivated at work. I had to marinate on it because we all have those not so good days where we just are not feeling it! What do you do? Do you work in a negative environment that makes it hard to stay positive and motivated. What tips do you have to give to someone who is struggling? I will share what I know and hopefully shed some insight on what we all deal with at one time or another
October is National Rett Syndrome Awareness month. Rett Syndrome (RS) is a genetic neurological disorder. After a period of early normal development a regression leads to severe multiple handicaps. Rett Syndrome appears to be a classic example of a disorder of chromatin, the highly condensed form in which DNA is stored within the cell. Treatments vary from daily medications to physical therapy. Many focus on assisting the patient in having the best quality of life, but there is no known cure to help reverse the genetic damage.
