Books of Excellence with Author Bonnie Kaye

    in Books

Tonight Bonnie Kaye's guest is B. J. Webster, who is originally from Australia and lived in London for almost twenty years Webster is the author of "Wonder Year," a story about the great fire in London during 1666.

1666 was called “Wonder Year”, despite it being a year of great calamity and disaster in London. The joke was, at least things weren’t worse than they were. Wonder Year is a fast paced historical fiction based around the actual events in 1666 before the Great Fire of London, through the dramatic fire and in the days after the blaze had ended and London wondered at their fate.

Who really started the Great Fire of London? Nobody knows for certain. Was it an accident or a deliberate act? Wonder Fire assumes the latter is the case and delves into the motives of ambition, illicit affairs, unrequited love and political intrigue, none which was a stranger to the court of King Charles II.
Feel what it was like to live in 1666 and better understand the intricacies of politics, power and class divide of the time. Be drawn in by the fascinating web of intrigue and how it plays out to create one of the most devastating events in history.

Tonight Bonnie Kaye is proud to have Jack Engelhard as her guest. Jack is one of America's most noted contemporary authors best known for his book Indecent Proposal that was made into a block buster movie staring Robert Redford, Demi Moore, and Woody Harrelson. It is now opening in Israel in Hebrew as a play. Jack has authored books that sell millions of copies around the world and have been translated into numerous languages. His books take you into the psychological insight of the moral dilemmas we are all faced with during our lives leaving us to question if we are all capable of giving in to temptation of the heart rather than do the right thing. His sharp, staccato style draws you into the story from the first page and doesn't let you go until you are finished reading. Tonight we will be highlighting Jack's recently released books which are the Bathsheba Deadline, a thriller tied in to today's current Middle East terrorist groups and Compulsive which gives the reader a front row seat into a man's life consumed by addiction.

Jack originally started his writing career as a news man writing articles and editorials for the Philadelphia Inquirer and other publications. He currently writes a column several times a week for a popular Israeli newspaper Arutz Sheva.

You can read more about Jack his books on his website at www.Jackengelhard.com.

On a personal level, Jack has greatly touched my life and thinking as a writer and as a human being. After reading any of his books, you'll be thinking for a long time about the temptations that face us in life, and if you would be strong enough to walk the other way.

Tonight Bonnie Kaye welcomes Lorraine Pestell, author of the six part serialized book "A Life Singular." Lorraine was born in London and has had a successful career as an Information Technology professional in the UK, US, Europe, Singapore, and more recently Australia.  She currently resides in Melbourne, Victoria.

Although working full-time, Lorraine is a passionate volunteer for several organizations, including serving on the Boards of non-profit organizations, being a mentor for The Smith Family's iTrack program and providing project management assistance to The School Volunteer Program.  She finds that volunteering time and energy to those less fortunate is an effective antidote to life-long depression and the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

The idea for "A Life Singular" originated when Lorraine was 14 years old, and the story has continued to develop since then.  However, three years ago, a new element of the plot triggered a sudden urge to complete the novel, and since then the story has evolved into six separate parts. The book tells the story of a successful celebrity writing his autobiography after the tragic loss of his wife.

In essence a love story, the central themes of the "A Life Singular"  serial are triumph over mental illness, the choices we make between right and wrong, the relentless passage of time and how each affects the other.  Some of life's lessons are harder to learn, and some amazing opportunities easier to take.  The trick is always to understand the consequences of our choices, before it's too late...

Bonnie Kaye welcomes author Michelle Manning who authored the book Siding With Plato. She was raised in Valencia, California and is a graduate of Arizona State University where she majored in journalism. She worked in the fields of public relations, marketing, social media, and finally to entertainment news.

Siding With Plato is a romantic laugh-out-loud chick lit novel about being young, beautiful, and a seriously hot mess! Brooke Aarons can't get to college fast enough. Leaving behind her small town life, she intends to transform herself into a brilliant psychologist at the University of Texas, with no distractions to slow her down. But when she finds herself on a double date with the school's notorious playboy - and worse, enjoying it - Brooke has to wonder if she's the one who needs her head examined. James Cartwright's overly glorified jock status, endless bucks, and long line of willing girls should make him a non-starter for Brooke, but as she learns, the psychology behind a bad crush is a whole lot messier of a subject. Maybe Plato was right. Maybe love is a serious mental disease . . . If so there better be a cure before Brooke gets herself in too deep.
