Talk with Tenney: A Conversation with Katherine Hine: Free John Rohrer

    in Current Events

Join me on Human Rights Day, December 10, 2014, from 8-10 PM Eastern for a conversation with Katherine Hine and to hear how you can be part of helping free John Rohrer.  Call (267)521-0167 to be a part of the program.

Katherine Hine is an inactive attorney in Ohio and mother of John Rohrer, the 34 year old writer/musician being kept locked up in state facilities since September, 2009, force drugged for more than 3 ½ years. Thanks to support from the Anti-Psychiatry movement and lawsuits involving 5 separate courts in Ohio, John, as of November 4, 2014 is no longer forcibly drugged. But he remains hospitalized by the very people who have been battering and retaliating against him for the past 2 years. Support from the human rights community is more needed today than ever, as John and his attorney attack Ohio’s mental health SYSTEM in the courts of its state capital. A demonstration is planned for January at the State House. On December 10, 2014, Human Rights Day, it may be timely to reflect on some of the rights we all as citizens still have on paper, and what that really means in practice in America today. For a more complete story, with comments, go to http://www.madinamerica.com/2014/12/patients-lawsuit-claims-psychiatric-diagnosis-treatment-fraud-malpractice-torture/#more-50533.

Can St. Louis Win The Fight To Save The Katherine Dunham Centers For The Arts?

    in Women

The legendary Katherine Dunham was more than just a dancer. She was an Anthropologist and a Historian who helped preserve the cultural heritage of African people through music and dance, bringing honor and respect to the ancient rituals of rhythmic body movements that recorded history. The Katherine Dunham Centers For The Arts and Humanities in St. Louis Missouri has been a beacon of light in preserving the rich African culture and inspiring many performers to appreciate the deeper meaning and uses of the dance expression. It is an institution that stands as a beacon of hope in a city so recently plagued with despair. Financial challenges threaten to cause the Katherine Dunham Center to be closed, and dedicated activists are fighting to raise the necessary dollars to preserve this institution. Will the community win this fight to maintain a powerful legacy? Professional dancer  Laurie Goux, Artistic Director of SpiritWing Dance Ensemble and a student of the Katherine Dunham Technique, is organizing a cooperative community effort to preserve this historic site in St. Louis.

#200 Embodying Divine Wisdom w/Marja West & Katherine Buckalew

    in Spirituality

Join me for a fiery and spicy conversation with Truth Goddess and Truth Connections Radio Host and Co-Founder—Katherine Buckalew. We will be talking frankly about Katherine’s vision, her awakening, her conviction as woman, mother, lover of Truth, the latest with Truth Connections Radio, the Truth & Freedom Movement, and the challenges we are all currently facing. Katherine is fiercely wise, articulate, and a force of Nature, and is also co-organizing the upcoming 2015 Free Your Mind Conference in Philadelphia.

Civically minded since a young age, Katherine’s experience in both the Arts and Investment Banking (more specifically holding Series 7 and Series 63 Licenses) has given her equal footing in both the creative side of society and the financial workings behind the scenes. A devoted mother who strongly follows news and events that don’t make mainstream headlines, Katherine spends the majority of her free time making connections with those of like mind, and sharing the information she finds using all manner of sources. Discernment and a little intuitive faith has enabled Katherine to bring others into the ‘truth’ arena, and helped to educate while allowing personal freedom, regardless of situation or circumstance. Katherine shows an open love for all beings and is happy to listen to opposing views with respect for each individual opinion, religious upbringing, or experience. Katherine’s genuine understanding that we are all unique, yet wish for the same happiness is what makes her a pleasantly unique individual and an informative presenter for the show she co-founded: the ideal mix of successfully hosting at Truth Connections Radio.

Beantown Pals with Katherine Dines and Patricia Shih

    in Family

Beantown Pals favorites Patricia Shih and Katherine Dines join Tom Hayes in another great episode of Beantown Pals.

Patricia Shih wrote her first song at age 12 and hasn't stopped since. At the age of 15, she signed a recording and management contract with Unicorn Records of Washington, D.C. as half of a duo. This marked the start of her professional career. A 45 RPM record was released a year later, and numerous, T.V., radio, concert and club performances followed. Included are an international radio broadcast on the Voice of America and appearances at the legendary Cellar Door, where the duo was runner-up to Emmy Lou Harris in the competitive "Best of the Hoots." Several years later, Ms. Shih began her solo career in California, notably on her own PBS special Patty Shih - Music from the Gallery. Soon after, she returned to the east coast and settled in Huntington, N.Y.

Katherine Dines is an award-winning children’s songwriter, recording and teaching artist who performs throughout the world.  Since 1993, her concerts have captivated children and family audiences, and her Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta® MUSIC cds (11 in series) have garnered over 30 national awards– including a Grammy nomination and a Platinum record.  An advocate for literacy, the arts and education, Katherine serves on several national boards and presents keynote addresses at early childhood and library conferences. Her songs have been featured in Build-A-Bear Workshops, Disney’s 101 Dalmations Dog Songs, Hallmark greeting cards, and United Airlines and can be heard regularly on satellite radio stations. She resides in Denver, Colorado and continues to write songs for other clients, and expand Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta® MUSIC into other product areas such as books, toys, movies, the world wide web and television.
