    Tears in the Jungle

    in Environment

    William & Daniel Clarke

The vision of these two young men is to save the orangutans of Borneo and Sumatra. Their mission is to create greater awareness of the issues facing the orangutan and their habitat, to empower children and adults to make a difference and to raise funds to help save orangutans from extinction. Two brothers, one wheelchair and a passion to make a difference.  Sometimes I can’t believe the exceptional human beings I get to learn about and interview. Their book, Tears in the Jungle, is a fun and educational way for children to learn about the environment and understand how they can make a difference.  I hope you plan to join me because the story of these two young people from Australia and what kind of global impact they are having is something we all want to know about. This show is made possible through the generous support of Habitat for Humanity Tucson.

The 1984 NBA World Championship Series: Bird is the Word

    in Sports

The table had been set over the past 5 seasons and now the main course had finally arrived; Larry Bird would meet Magic Johnson for  the NBA's biggest prize, the first of a Championship Series Trilogy that would change NBA History. The storied rivalry between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers would add an unforgettable chapter in this seven game classic, a passionately fought battle up until the last seconds of the final game. The NBA's Most Valuable player in 1984, Bird would draw first blood with a magnificent performance while Magic suffered the slings and arrows of defeat, a burden he would shoulder until the sequel, The Revenge of the Lakers in 1985.

Cardinals vs. Bengals preview: Cincy Jungle talks Palmer, Dalton and more

    in Football

The Arizona Cardinals have another appearance on Sunday Night Football this week. They face the 8-1 Cincinnati Bengals at home after having defeated the Seattle Seahawks 39-32 in Seattle. The game features two of the NFL's best teams and two of the league's most balanced teams offensively and defensively.

To preview the game, Scott Bantel from SB Nation's Cincy Jungle was a guest on the show with host Jess Root and talked about a whole bunch of things leading up to the game.

Of course, we couldn't ignore the Carson Palmer angle, so we discussed what his departure meant for him and for Cincinnati. Clearly, it worked out for everyone.

Bantel tells us about how Bengals fans have elevated expectations and, despite all the success the last four years, are really in a wait-and-see mode for the team until the postseason.

He gives us the implications of the injuries they have suffered on defense and also the matchups that favor and do not favor the Bengals. And that whole prime time thing with Andy Dalton and the Bengals? There might be something to that.

He joins us from the Columbus Zoo to talk about a program celebrating the tremendous work of these vets.
