Nell Simmons - R&B Artist 2:15pm
Phenomenal Singer who has been blazing the scene as of late. One of the most powerful voices in the world this woman will blow you away. If you were to ask Nell who she is and what she contributes to the industry Nell says "I am something of the opposite having come to the industry only recently and largely in isolation." My story is about someone who came to make music later in life and had to do so using modern desktop technology and the internet to produce and promote more out of necessity than anything else. I think I can provide some insights for other emerging artists trying to find their way in the modern music industry.
Teddy Garcia - Singer/Songwriter Blues Jazz Artist 3:15pm
Teddy Garcia (48) in an emerging singer/songwriter, anchored in the blues tradition but drawing from many different contemporary styles to create his unique sound. Breastfeeding in public has been a hot topic in the birthing and parenting worlds. Often breastfeeding in public is treated as taboo and breastfeeding mothers may be asked to leave stores or businesses. When did breastfeeding your baby become taboo or controversial? Does the lack of acceptance of public breastfeeding affect breastfeeding rates? According to the CDC, less than 80% of babies are ever breastfed, with rates dropping to less than 50% by age 6 months. In many parts of the world, breastfeeding rates are much higher and public breastfeeding is widely accepted--why not here in the U.S.? What can we do to normalize breastfeeding so that woman are free to breastfeed their babies whenever and whereever they need to? What can we do to promote the diversity of breastfeeding, whether it be culturally or even in the ways women choose to breastfeed (on the breast, pumping, tandem, etc.)?
Vaness Simmons, photographer and founder of the Normalize Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign is on the show tonight to discuss how she's out to postively impact breastfeeding in the United States and what you can do to help. Find out more at http://normalizebreastfeeding.org/.

FULL COURT PRESS is the creative vision of A&R Executive Shannon “Slam” Ridley who, as a father to twin boys, was looking for ways to inspire and encourage them. “With over a decade of successes at Bad Boy Records, I understand the power of hip-hop on American culture. My only problem was there was nothing on the radio that I could listen to with my children. The lyrics are totally contrary to what I'm teaching in my home. I thought it would be really cool if I could enjoy listening to Hip-Hop with my children the way we enjoy an NBA game!” With that Full Court Press was born. “Why not make an clean, inspiring, Hip-Hop Album combining the world’s greatest basketball players & rappers. NO disrespecting women, NO curse words, NO "N" word, NO glorification of drug use, while keeping the integrity of the music with hard driving tracks.”
