There are a lot of words the Bible uses that people today have no idea what they mean. Try this experiment: ask ten non-Christian friends what the word "gospel" means. Tell them, "I don't mean the music; I mean the message the the music celebrates. What's the message?" Changes are, they won't be able to tell you. But some words, everyone seems to know what they mean. Take the word "scapegoat" for example. Yet most people don't know the origin of the word. It's a Jewish concept, and it was first used to mean a literal goat that was executed in place of guilty people. Tonight we'll talk about its origins, on "Jewish Roots", an Internet pod-cast live talk radio show. Your host, Rev. Rick Anderson, each Thursday night 9:30 pm, EST. To call with a question or comment: 347-324-5759.
Jeremy Pinsely is a good southern boy. Born in Tennessee and went to college in Georgia. He loves football and BBQ. All that's standard. Here's where it gets interesting........he's Jewish. Which led to some interesting exchanges from his friends growing up. He tells all to James, Benjy, and Supertramp (Aaron).

Dr. Brant Pitre uses the Hebrew Scriptures and Jewish tradition to frame the actions of Jesus at the Last Supper, and to provide a fresh look at the heart of Catholic practice--the Eucharist. By taking us back to the Jewish roots of our faith, Dr. Pitre gives us a powerful lens through wich to see anew the bread of the presence, the manna, the Last Supper, and ultimately the meaning of the Eucharist. So many Carpet python fans out there... and why not? Carpet pythons are beautiful small to mid-sized Australian pythons that are available in many vibrant color and pattern morphs. Though somewhat high strung when young, they generally tame down readily with frequent handling, and become very impressive specimens as adults. This week's guest, Jason Baylin, of East Coast Serpents is a dyed-in-the-wool Carpet fan who also happens to know a thing or two about breeding these beautiful beasts from down under. Join CK for a peek inside Jason's world. You never know... there may be a new carpet in your future !

The Jewish New Year begins tonight at sundown, with 2 days of Rosh Hashanah. A New Moon also begins today. Because of powerful cosmic vibrations, every New Moon is an important event. However, when it coincides with Rosh Hashanah, it is even more powerful because of the massive amount of extra energy that is released from prayers, meditations and serious reflection of millions of people, and from the blowing of the Shofar (an instrument made of a ram's horn.) The 100 blasts during Rosh Hashanah are said to blast through negativity in order to clear the way for more positive energy and positive human experiences. You do not have to be Jewish to benefit from the powerful energy that begins today and ends on Saturday, Oct. 4 with Yom Kippur. Use this time for reflection, introspection, and to put forth your intentions and desires. You can use rituals, which are common on the New Moon. Though rituals are not necessary, they strongly affect and influence your subconscious mind. Join Beverly Nadler to find out more about how you can benefit from this very special New Moon.
