"An apple a day keeps the doctor away" has been a common saying for more than a century, and it turns out that people have been repeating it for good reason. Modern research shows that apples improve health in numerous ways, and the latest study found that apples can even boost a woman's sexual pleasure.
The study, which was published in Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics, found that women who ate one or two apples a day had better sex lives than those who didn't eat apples. The researchers believe that high levels of polyphenols and antioxidants found in apples stimulate blood flow to the sexual organs and aid arousal. In addition, apples contain phloridzin, a phyto-estrogen that's similar to the female sex hormone estradiol.
Apples fight many chronic health problems. Tune in Wednesday July 30 at 7:PM and listen to the discussion.

Hybrid Jazz has always strived to show class, dignity and variety with each episode. What you'll hear on 7/22/14 takes all of that to a new level. Helen Sung has been captivating listeners - via recording or live - since she emerged on the New York scene in the late 90's. But I'm getting ahead of myself ;)
Born to Chinese immigrants in Houston, our guest was playing piano at five. Her teacher was strict and permitted Helen to play only Classical music - which she did throughout her education at the respected Houston High School of Performing and Visual Arts. Her motivation for college: to teach and to perform when possible. All that changed when she saw Harry Connick, Jr., on stage - in Helen's last year of University of Texas at Austin.
The transition was swift. Obsessed with visualizing Harry's fingers on the piano, Helen got a hold of Everything-That-Is-Jazz: from Jelly Roll Morton to Keith Jarrett. She received dual degrees in Texas, but her eye was on the inaugural program at the Thelonious Monk Institute in Boston. It was mutual love - Helen's unique talent was now under the watchful eye of Artistic Director, Ron Carter. She toured with the Cream of the Jazz Crop - across the water with Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock. It changed her life. And ours who are fans.
That move to New York cemented what many already knew, including Wynton Marsalis, who now has HIS eye on where Helen Sung will land next. Terri Lyne Carrington knows, Helen having been a key component in the award-winning "Mosaic Project" in 2011. The Kennedy Center realizes her power, too - she is a recipient of the Mary Lou Williams Jazz Piano Competition.
Her sixth project, "Anthem For a New Day" is brilliant and brave. We could go ON for days about Helen Sung - but let HER tell her story: on 7/22/14 :)
Start with Breakfast
You may eat breakfast at a restaurant, a hotel continental breakfast bar, or even the food aisle of a gas station. Avoid excess sugar and starchy foods if you're the driver. High carbohydrate meals may improve your mood for a short time, but lots of sugar and starch can make you sleepy.
Breakfast at a Restaurant
Choose an omelet filled with vegetables and order a side of whole wheat toast instead of a stack of pancakes and syrup.
A bowl of oatmeal with fresh fruit is filling and good for you.
If you want something sweet, choose a bran muffin, which is a good source of fiber. Or opt for whole grain toast with just a little jam or jelly.
Hotel Continental Breakfast
Choose a whole grain cereal with low-fat milk.
Fresh fruit gives you vitamins and fiber.
Yogurt or hard-boiled eggs are good sources of protein.
Avoid sugary muffins, sweet-rolls, and pre-sweetened cereal.

Some believe as science purports that consciousness is a result of cognition. As a near death experiencer, I believe that it is the other way around, and that congition is a result of consciousness. Well, science may be answering the question of "apples" and near death experiencers may be answering the question of "oranges". Therein is the dilemma.
The soul is consciousness and the sum total of self. Next week we answer the remaining questions: Where does the soul come from? What is the soul made out of? What are the attributes of soul? Can the soul die? Don't miss this one!
Christopher Stanley, or “Jelly”, is a spoken word artist from Kearny, NJ. Jelly is a three time National Poetry Slam (NPS) competitor, He is the head of Public Relations for JC Slam, and the 2013 Individual World Poetry Slam (IWPS) representative for Jersey City.
Anger and trauma go together like peanut butter and jelly. Why is that the case, and what can be done about it? Trauma Therapy Coordinator at Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center, Megan Ross, drops by for this show to shed some light on the issue and offer answers.
