6th Annual Night of Champions with Chair Allyson Harvin & Jamie Deen on May 14

    in Business

LDSS Announces Night of Champions to Honor Differently-abled Working Adults and Their Employers

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) announces the sixth annual Night of Champions will be hosted Thursday, May 14 at 6 p.m. at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa – Hotel Grand Ballroom. This community celebration distinguishes local organizations that hire and retain differently-abled people, including those with Down syndrome, and recognizes the contributions made by these employees.

According to the National Down Syndrome Congress, 80 percent of the 15,000 people of working age (18-60) with Down syndrome are unemployed. Low expectations and a lack of understanding about the skills and work ethic many people with Down syndrome possess have contributed to this statistic. LDSS hopes to reverse this trend by encouraging Savannah area employers to give differently-abled workers a chance.

“Dignity and self-respect are borne out of feeling that what we have to offer makes a difference,” said LDSS Night of Champions Chairperson, Allyson Harvin.

This year’s Night of Champions will be emceed again by celebrity chef and author, Jamie Deen. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online at nightofchampions.org

For more information, please contact Allyson Harvin at awharvin@gmail.com.

The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) is a family support group to benefit people with Down syndrome and their families through local leadership, outreach, education, and advocacy to champion and celebrate acceptance and inclusion. Meetings are held every 4th Tuesday of the month. LDSS is an affiliate of the National Down Syndrome Society. For more information about LDSS, visit http://www.ldssga.org/

Klitschko vs. Jennings, Dirrell vs. Jack, Jacobs vs. Truax Review

    in Sports

In the main event of the evening, the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO Heavyweight Champion of the world. Wladimir Klitschko (63-3 with 54 KOs) entered the ring to one of the loudest roars from a crowd you may ever hear to face the undefeated Bryant Jennings (19-0 with 10 KOs). Over 17 thousand filled the World’s Most Famous Arena at Madison Square Garden to watch Klitschko fight his 1st fight in the US in over seven year.

The biggest fight on the Wladimir Klitschko vs Bryant Jennings card was a battle between two welterweights as Brooklyn’s own Sadam Ali (21-0 with 13 KOs) squared off against Francisco Santana (22-3-1 with 11 KOs) of Santa Barbara, California. It was a non-title bout of two skilled fighters that had average pop, and it was scheduled to go 10 rounds. Anthony Dirrell and Badou Jack headlined tonight’s “PBC” on Spike live from the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Illinois. Dirrell was defending his WBC super-middleweight title in his 2015 debut against Jack, who was entering the ring two wins removed from his first loss.Tonight’s “PBC” series broadcast came to us live from the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Illinois, and it was aired on Spike TV, their second showing of Al Haymon’s brain child. The co-feature offered up Danny Jacobs defending his paper championship against Caleb Truax, a fighter whose only claim to fame is a scored knockdown against Jermain Taylor in a losing effort and a win against Don George.

James Kessee VS Dennis C.Latham - debate on the american flag VS GOD THE FATHER

James Kessee VS Dennis C.Latham - debate on the american flag
From FaceBook Post by Dennis C. Latham
    https://www.facebook.com/sowreap/posts/10206272061058738

My comment about the caucasian woman who grabbed and snatched an american flag from protestors of the opposite race who were walking on it -

    Dennis C. Latham
her god is a flag - that represents a satanic nation started on abuse, beating, cheating, harming, hating, hurting, murdering, racism, raping and stealing.
draping that flag over dead soldier is nothing - you need to drape yourself in THE BLOOD OF JESUS.

James Kessee Not only is your view on the American flag disrespectful but its also extremely ignorant and insensitive to the many Soldiers, fireman, etc. that have made the ultimate sacrafice. Whether you like it or not, that flag has given many hope when there was none. I can personally say when I went to Iraq I had no prouder moment then the moment I looked at the flag and said "this is how you represent your country". You are clearly a well educated man but this is by far just a dumb and ignorant statement. Dion E. Evans I am curious as to your views as well.
