    in Music

James Anthony Brown (born in Columbia, South Carolina) is an American comedian, actor and radio personality. He received thePeabody Award and the NAACP Image Award.

Brown started his career in Atlanta, Georgia, after relocating there from his home in South Carolina almost thirty years ago.[when?] A tailor by trade, Brown aspired to be a clothing designer before putting together a comedy routine after entering a local 'gong show' contest in a local nightclub, Mr. V's Figure Eight. Invited back to host on a regular basis, Brown became a fixture, performing there for the next two years.

He left Atlanta for Los Angeles, California, in 1989 to pursue work in television, quickly finding a job as a staff writer for the nationally syndicated, late-night talk show, The Arsenio Hall Show. After five years, Brown found other writing assignments for such sitcoms as The Parenthood and Me and the Boys.

He has performed on Vibe, Def Comedy Jam, It's Showtime at the Apollo, An Evening at the Improv and The Oprah Winfrey Show, and had recurring roles on Moesha, Living Single and The Parenthood, as well as guest spots on The Parkers and Sparks. His motion picture work includes roles in Def Jam's How to Be a Player, Pay the Price, Drumline and Mr. 3000. He has also warmed up audiences at the tapings of Martin, Sister, Sister, Roc and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper.

Brown is currently[when?] appearing on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, a nationwide radio show broadcast from Dallas, Texas.

Brown was awarded a NAACP Image Award and Peabody Award in 1993 for his contribution to reconstruction after the 1992 LA uprising.

Brown is working as executive producer for an upcoming reality competition TV show.

The Lundyn Brown Show Episode: Marriage Soup for the Soul

    in Culture

"I think the biggest issue in marriage is boundary problems. Spouses so often try to change the other in the name of helpfulness. The truth is the only person you can change is you. You married them the way they are. If they're a slob, they probably were since childhood. The best you're going to do is change your response."

    — Gina Holmes, author of Wings of Glass, March 2013

    About the author:

Writing has always been a part of my life, but always in the background…always in the shadows of my professional careers.  And although most people may look at that time as a loss in regards to a writing career, I realize that it was all part of my own personal creative writing journey. The opportunities and experiences gained in my early careers all have some type of influence in both my writing and in my ability to support and inspire people who are also trying to navigate their way toward bringing their own creations to fruition.

The Shelly Wilson Show with Anthony Mrocka

    in Spirituality

Special Guest ~ Intuitive Counselor, Life Coach and Psychic Medium Anthony Mrocka
After years of struggling with addiction, Anthony began to question his very purpose in life. It was during one of his lowest points he began to pray to God and surrender his life to Him. It was at this moment his Spiritual Awakening began. Things started to happen that did not make sense. He started to hear, see and feel things that were “not of this world.” Teachers showed up out of no where, making it seem as if he was on a divinely guided path which contained some sort of predestined plan. Anthony was told he was a psychic medium, and so began his development with Spirit.
