October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and we will recognize it today with Dr. William Copeland, Associate Professor at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. Copeland recently wrote an article (published online 2/20, 2013 In JAMA Psychiatry) on the long-term effects of bullying behavior. The findings as to what extent bullying can affect a person’s adult functioning are alarming and should be a “call to arms,” to create effective bullying prevention programs in all schools and communities.
Dr. William Copeland is a clinical psychologist and epidemiologist, who trained at the University of Vermont and completed his clinical internship at Duke University Medical Center. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Center for Developmental Epidemiology in the department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. Copeland’s research program is supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the National Institute of Mental Health, and the National Alliance for Research in Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD).
The oracle concerning Damascus.
“Behold, Damascus is about to be removed from being a city
And will become a fallen ruin.
“The cities of Aroer are forsaken;
They will be for flocks to lie down in,
And there will be no one to frighten them.
“The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim,
And sovereignty from Damascus
And the remnant of Aram;
They will be like the glory of the sons of Israel,”
Declares the Lord of hosts.
Now in that day the glory of Jacob will fade,
And the fatness of his flesh will become lean.
It will be even like the reaper gathering the standing grain,
As his arm harvests the ears,
Or it will be like one gleaning ears of grain
In the valley of Rephaim.
Yet gleanings will be left in it like the shaking of an olive tree,
Two or three olives on the topmost bough,
Four or five on the branches of a fruitful tree,
Declares the Lord, the God of Israel.
In that day man will have regard for his Maker
And his eyes will look to the Holy One of Israel.
He will not have regard for the altars, the work of his hands,
Nor will he look to that which his fingers have made,
Even the Asherim and incense stands.
In that day their strong cities will be like forsaken places in the forest,
Or like branches which they abandoned before the sons of Israel;
And the land will be a desolation.
For you have forgotten the God of your salvation
And have not remembered the rock of your refuge.
Therefore you plant delightful plants
And set them with vine slips of a strange god.
In the day that you plant it you carefully fence it in,
And in the morning you bring your seed to blossom;
But the harvest will be a heap
In a day of sickliness and incurable pain.
Alas, the uproar of many peoples
Who roar like...
Tongues A Sign of Imminent Judgment Upon Israel
In the little Apotcalypse of Isaiah 24-28, we have demonstrated the judgment of national Israel and the salvation of the remnant. We've also introduced the role of tongue speaking from the Law as a sign of judgment upon Israel from Deuteronomy 28 and Isaiah 28. A less known and emphasized role of tongue-speaking in the last days is the implication for unbelieving Israel.
As a result, the gift of tongues becomes a vital piece of the eschatological puzzle and events of the last days. Those who are following these studies should also grasp the importance of these messages for current events in our world today. The gospel of Jesus Christ and first century fulfillment addresses the void in today's popular eschatology.
Join us on Two Guys and A Bible as we continue our discussions on the Holy Spirt and the gift of tongues in the Little Apocalypse of Isaiah. For more information, visit our websites at DonKPreston.com and AllThingsFulfilled.com

Isaiah Called to Be a Prophet
6 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
The whole earth is full of His glory!”
4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 So I said:
“Woe is me, for I am undone!
Because I am a man of unclean lips,
And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King,
The Lord of hosts.”
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said:
“Behold, this has touched your lips;
Your iniquity is taken away,
And your sin purged.”
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:
“Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?”
Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

Stress is a part of life. You can’t avoid it, especially in today’s hectic world. What you can avoid are the health damaging effects of stress.
Health Guru, Beverly Nadler, will give you the facts you need to become aware of the “stress response” that releases hormones that become toxic to your body, and to know how to stop the response before it gets out of hand, and to neutralize its effects with the “relaxation response.”
It’s about training your brain, calming the ancient reptilian part, called the amygdala. The amygdala cries “danger” and causes the “fight or flight” response. While it often saved the lives of our ancestors, it is often endangering ours. Beverly assures us that anyone who applies what she shares can avoid the negative effects of stress.
