Lynda L. Sands is known by many as one of the “leading attorneys in North America on the philanthropic transfer of wealth.” She has served the non-profit and philanthropic community for 36 years and has trained more than a generation of financial advisors and planned giving officers. Her career in philanthropic planning began when she joined Bank of America as a tax expert after earning double degrees as a juris doctor and masters in business administration. She then joined Yale University as assistant General Counsel. Two years later, she founded her own law firm in San Francisco, but she retained Yale University as a client for an additional nine years.

Lynda’s individual clients often are highly successful real estate investors, CEOs of closely held companies or people with personal net worth of $5 million to $100 million who may be seeking to create private foundations or charitable remainder or lead trusts. They also may encounter challenges during administration of such trusts or foundations, or may wish to terminate the trust or foundation. Lynda also works with them to achieve asset protection.

These organizations may be large or small, but they all share the common goal of developing the most robust philanthropic base of high net worth donors.

She consults in setting up a solid management structure for developing high net worth prospects, creates sound marketing and strategic plans for major, endowment and planned gifts, presents training workshops for board, staff and advisors, and structures high net worth gifts for the organization or in conjunction with its staff. She has directly created or assisted in creating over a billion dollars in charitable gifts for her clients.

Miller, who has counseled thousands of families over the past 20 years as a retirement and estate planner, says she has seen too many people lose their money or homes as a result of unanticipated health crisis and catastrophic bills. Further, she says that too many people fail to plan properly for the future, lacking correctly prepared legal documents, useful financial plans, or a proper support system.

Miller is available to share her insights on these issues:

    • Why are people so afraid to talk to a financial advisor?

    • Is it too late for someone near retirement to repair their savings?

    • Why do so many people lose their inheritance to lawyers and court fees?

    • What the taxman doesn’t want you to know: Learn the secrets the rich use to save money.

Pay Tribute to Black History Month: Invest & Lower Black Unemployment

    in History

Black unemployment is double digit in America. Blacks are the biggest consumers on the planet. Every  American Black History month,  Black events are showcased sharing accomplishments made by Blacks to America's economy. This is all good. The right thing to do. The right thing to do also is to for Black unemployment to not always exceed all others. Working and never getting out of poverty does not equate fulfillment. My challenge this Black history month is to all  descendants of the African slaves. Invest in yourself beginng this month. If you are employed, update your skills and get a raise or promotion. If you are unemployed, evaluate the reason and get a job by any means necessary. A man can't ride your back unless you bend it. If you are an employer, how long must Blacks in America wait for equality. Blacks are born in poverty, work a lifetime experiencing poverty and die prematurely in poverty. Pay tribute to Black History month by recalling and by blazing a path Blacks know well. A 21st century America should honor the efforts of all Americans, Blacks and others with jobs. Time we end double digit jobless rates in Black communities. Workers built America's companies and the least these American and foreign companies should do is jobs for American workers. Full employment across the board. Prosperity for all.
