Years ago my, long time, friend Arthur Hawkins introduced me to the TED TALKS (www.ted.com/). According to Wikipedia TED was founded in 1984 as a one-off event. The annual conference began in 1990, in Monterey, California. TED's early emphasis was technology and design, consistent with its origins in the Silicon Valley.
Since June 2006 the talks have been offered for free viewing online, under Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs Creative Commons license, through TED.com. As of April 2014, over 1,700 talks are available free online By January 2009 they had been viewed 50 million times. In June 2011, the viewing figure stood at more than 500 million and on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, TED Talks had been watched one billion times worldwide.

Introverts at Ease: Nancy Okerlund
Depending on who you listen to, introverts make up 25-50% of the U.S. population, or between 80 and 160 million people. That's a lot of self aware folks with strong powers of observation, concentration and focus. But many of us don't feel strong or energetic, and even wonder if there's something wrong with us. Some of us don't even realize we're introverts. The latest research shows that introverts are hardwired differently, with specific energy and lifestyle needs that sometimes conflict with those of extroverts. It's not about becoming more extroverted; it's about allowing yourself to think and behave in ways more suitable to being an introvert in an extroverted culture. Introvert expert Nancy Okerlund captures the essence of the introvert dilemma, and provides realistic strategies and techniques to help you create a more energized and fulfilling life. Join us for this exciting episode of The Organic Mind. Bonnie Kelly will be joined by guest Kimberly Reyes of Lifestyle by Design to discuss Introverts & Extroverts ~ the strengths of each and how to honor yourself and others, and why making these authentic connections are so important. Kimberly is well known for helping introverts and extroverts build strong Personal and Professional Connections.
We are thrilled to announce that we had the opportunity to speak with the lovely Susan Cain, the author of Quiet: The Power of Introverts this past week. Susan provided some very insightful answers into the differences between extroverts and introverts, and how this dynamic is affecting the way we work, communicate, and live. The conversation will be released today, August 24, at 3 p.m. EST.
Susan gave a TED talk this March, speaking about some of her personal experiences of being an introvert and how people respond to it. In our culture, a lot of people do not realize that a third to a half of people are introverts. Furthermore, it is greatly misunderstood. Introversion is largely about how people respond to stimulation and specifically, social stimulation. Extroverts obviously generate a lot of "noise" and stimulation in response to social situations, while introverts digest and observe. In a very aggressive and dominant American culture, you can see how it is easy for there to be a bias towards introverts.
