Over the years, there has been significant debate on the impact that interracial relationships have on the black community as a whole. As more blacks become conscious of their history and heritage, they are viewing interracial relationships in a different light. Is it okay for a black man to bypass a black queen to marry a white women? Does a black woman slight her race when she chooses to marry a white man? These are questions that need to be examined in depth. We will do just that in this episode of Real Talk with Rick and J. Rich.
Hi Bedroom Playmates,
On this episode we are discussing Interracial Relationships. Is there an issue in the Black community when it comes to white or other ethnic women dating black men but less of an issue when a black woman dates a white man or any other ethnicity? Why do we see such uprest when a Black male celebrity or athlete date a woman of another ethnicity? Is it really about the woman he has chosen to date or is it something more ingrain within the Black culture?
Are interracial relationships any different from relationships of the same ethnic group.
Does love actually have a color? What is your preference? Why or why wouldn't you date someone of an opposite ethnic group?
What about interracial relationships in the LGBT community? Do they face the same issues as heterosexual couples?
We want to talk about this. This will be a healthy discussion. We are having guest host Tessie Wilmot on the show to engage us in this topic.
Join us and share your thoughts.

Interracial relationships are on a rise in the United States. Interracial married couples grew by 28 percent from 2000 to 2010, making 8.4 percent of all current U.S. marriages mixed-raced.
So, it’s no surprise that there has been an explosion of television shows featuring interracial couples. However, mainstream television series that portray Black people in interracial relationships – with Black women in particular – appear to far outnumber programs depicting Black couples.
In 1975, “The Jefferson" was the first television series to garner attention to featuring the first African American/Caucasian marriage. The series ran for 10-years. Just recently, there has been a huge influx of television shows that promote interracial relationship – with its most popular and most controversial – ABC’s "Scandal".
On this episode of Hot Topics Talk Radio, we’re going to examine the rise of shows which promote interracial relationships, and the decrease of shows that depict Black relationships and marriages. We are asking the question, “Is Black marriage going away in mainstream television?”

Interracial Marriage in America is on the rise. People aren't allowing racism or traditions to keep them from chosing a person to love. We are all human and want the same things but racism hinders interracial couples. Interracial couples must deal with public perception, family opinion and blending 2 cultures together. A marriage is something you must work on daily. When you add the extra things interracial couples go through can make it a challenge to those that don't see it coming. Many have lost family and friends due to their relationship.
As I researched this week's topic I found that when most people use the term INTERRACIAL, they automatically think Black and White. Why this is so is beyond me and is worth further investigation and discussion.
It seems that interracial dating and relationships are more acceptable today than it was in the past, but that just may be on the surface. There have actually been polls taken that shows this to be the case, but again those polls are only using Black and White people in their studies.
Let's talk about what the term interracial actually means and how the dating scene looks from all aspects.
