Hysteria over the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus is surpassing the previous hysteria over what use to be considered a death sentence, the AIDS virus. Today's disease control experts appear unsure how the Ebola virus spreads: is it through contact with body fluids, like AIDS? Or is it airborne? Can it be transmitted by insects, such as flies or mosquitoes? How effective are these "experimental drugs" being used to treat certain patients? Will people without health insurance who contact Ebola be left to suffer and die? And the big question: is this a deliberately manufactured disease for the purpose of "population control" on the African continent
How much do we really know about the Ebola virus? Is this a real threat or another way to isolate populations and generate fear? We can cure it here, and are told not to worry... Then why is it killing almost 50% of infected people in West Africa?
Then we will consider the pleasures and difficulties of travel. Jeff and Susan are broadcasting from afar today. An experiment in frustration and possibility.

The virus, known as enterovirus 68, is similar to the rhinovirus that causes the common cold, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But unlike a cold, the infection can lead to severe respiratory symptoms like wheezing.
The rare virus suspected of sickening 1,000 children in 11 states can start out like the common cold but quickly evolve into something much more serious, health officials say.
The culprit is Enterovirus 68 (also known as EVD-68 or Eentrovirus D68), a rare viral infection that can cause symptoms such as coughing, wheezing and low blood oxygen levels (also known as hypoxemia). In some cases, however, the symptoms can be severe — particularly for children who already suffer from asthma or other respiratory problems.
Jennifer Cornejo of Colorado told Denver's ABC affiliate that her 13-year-old son, William, had cold symptoms that developed overnight into a life-threatening illness. "He was in really bad shape," she told the station. "He came really close to death. He was unconscious at our house and white as a ghost with blue lips — he just passed out."
