Bliss Point part 3 with Dr. E.D. Brown

    in Self Help

Clinical Psychologist Dr. E. Douglass Brown is speaking on his final Part 3 series on Bliss Point vs Ego, on this re-broadcast show. He says, “Each person is a traveler who journeys first from a condition of knowing nothing, then to a condition of infantile self-obsession, then to a condition of being possessed by anyone or anything that the person thinks can induce pleasure and relieve discomfort. Some of us eventually make it to a state of freedom from bondage to fleeting urges, affiliations, and ego-attachments. That state of freedom is commonly referred to as Higher Consciousness - aka - the ‘Bliss Point.’ It is 'what I want' as I near the end of my journey – not what someone else wants for me, it is 'what I hope to become' as I near the end of my journey, not what someone else wants me to become.”

Unrest on American Campus Reminds One of the Good Old Days

    in Higher Education

College students expand the talk, will they walk the walk?  Campus unrest is again on the forefront and politicians begin to take notice that there is something moving under the surface. Demands of equality, loads of student debt and the realization of that sheepskin not being worth a plug nickle brings tempers to a boiling point. Serious discussion with the usual banter about everything that is interesting and topical headlines abound in this installment. Infantile behavior or the right to question is the question.

Infantile Scoliosis and Pediatric Physical Therapy

    in Health

August 5, 2014: By the time Linda Cook took her 10-month old son Evan to his 4-month check-up, she was convinced he had scoliosis. Evan was having trouble breathing, he was losing strength and range of motion, and he had a noticeable hump around his ribs. Tests confirmed that Linda was right.

In this episode, Linda discusses what a rare condition infantile scoliosis is, what it's like to be part of her son's physical therapy team, and the big gains her little patient is making. Evan's pediatric physical therapist joins her.

    Max's Story. Hope from Hoplessness

    in Health

Imagine being told that your child has a genetic disease or abnormality and there is no possibility of a normal life, what would you do? Go along with the expected course as written in the medical journals or look for alternatives to give him the best quality of life? As your host for many years-I KNOW what you will do!

On Monday , May 18, 2015 at 8pm eastern,  we have the pleasure of interviewing Melissa who is the mother of Max who was diagnosed with the chromosomal disorder known as PTLS (Potocki-Lupski Syndrome). The expected features of the syndrome include mental retardation, autism spectrum disorder, infantile hypotonia, sleep apnea, structural cardiovascular anomalies, cognitive deficits, abnormal social behaviors, learning disabilities, ADD, OCD, short stature and failure to thrive.

Max's mom, through diligent research, has improved Max's condition beyond all expectations.. This is a heartwarming story but carries a very heavy message. Different from at the genetic polymorphisms, children with chromosomal abnormalities are not expected to thrive or do well. Please join us and listen to how Melissa overcame her fears, challenge the medical establishment's expectations and gave Max fighting chance for normal living. The story will surprise you, warm your heart and (I hope) spur you to action for these children were not being given the proper opportunity to live.

Because of the time difference (the family lives in the southern hemisphere) I recorded the interview and will play it during our regular show on 5/18/15 at 8 PM Eastern time.

See you then Dr. Jess :-)

Politics Done Right on KPFT - Whether it is Iran or Venezuela it is war and oil

    in Politics Progressive

When Senator Tom Cotton and forty six other Republicans attempted to sabotage the negotiations between the US, the 5+1 nations and Iran they expected to cut the feet from under the president. It has since backfired. Only their most ardent supporters think it was a good idea.

The infantile wording of the letter showed a Party that is not only in decline ideologically, but a Party whose leadership is intellectually deficient. Rank and file Republicans deserve much better. They need to take their Party back.

While we will talk about Iran tonight we will expand on how this type of actions materially affect us all. My featured guest today is Tim Danahey of the Tim Danahey Show.

    Breastfeeding, Who's on Your Team

    in Health

Today Shirley Gutkokwski will explore the team that is needed to support women so they can breasfeed their babies successfully. This means healthy babies and happy moms. Today's guest is  Dr. Lawrence Kotlow is a 1972 graduate of SUNY Buffalo Dental School, and completed his pediatric dental residency at the Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio between 1972-1974. Since 1974 he has had a private practice in Albany, New York. He became Board Certified in Pediatric dentistry in 1980 , and is a Fellow in the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

The topics we will cover today will include but not be limited to the breastfeeding team, why mothers need a team effort in getting their infants  breastfeeding  without problems for either the mom or the  infants. The role of the pediatric dentist, IBCLC and cranial sacral therapist is developing the mother infant  relationship during  breastfeeding.

From the moment the baby is born, in a perfect world, someone on the delivery  team should acess the baby for tongue or lip tie.  These small issues  can be easily corrected and often go unnoticed, these babies can have trouble sucking, latching on or even have failure to thrive which my be blamed on something unrelated, when infact a simple procedure can solve this issue.  If a mother has an abundance of milk this may not be noticed at first and ultimately affect tooth and jaw devlopment.

Join us today to learn more about the world of breastfeeding and who on the team can support babies and moms.

You can also find more information on Dr. Kotlow's website: http://www.kiddsteeth.com
