In the early 1950's, television started showing cartoons for kids to watch. In 1950 only 9% of Americans owned a Television set in their homes, Today 99% of Americans have at least 1 Television in their homes. With statistics like that its clear that times have changed. Children today spend more and more time in front of the TV. Experts say this can lead to childhood obesity and even cause problems with disorders such as ADD and ADHD. So what can you do about it? Turn off the TV!

Recently I read writing from a young Black female titled “Why Are Black Women So Independent”? The writer noted that this is a question that has been repeatedly asked but wrongfully answered by many. The writer goes on to explain that this question has also caused a comparison to the race of other women arguing that women who are not black are the total opposite. What are your thoughts? Are Black Women too independent? What is too independent? “Do Black Women really feel like they don’t need or want a man? How or did slavery contribute to the widespread of independence?
