    The Conservative Refuge

    in Politics Conservative

    On today's show:

The refusal of Maryland's paper of record The Baltimore Sun to cover the serious issues in this year's gubernatorial race is highlighted by an inane article by Erin Cox about Larry Hogan's weight loss on the campaign trial.
Desperately attacking Larry Hogan, Anthony Brown's camp touts a poll from the New York Times.  But is it as reliable as the MDGOP poll that show the race a statistical dead heat?  We'll discuss a piece from Maryland Reporter addressing that question.
Some elected officials in Anne Arundel County want to vote themselves a pay raise.  We'll discuss.
Time to tell Ray Lewis to "Get Off My Lawn" for this amazing statment about Ray Rice which got a lot of attention when I shared it on Twitter.

    in Politics

Scottscope Talk Radio 7/5/2014: More Than Meets The Eye!

    in Entertainment

On this week’s edition of Scottscope Talk Radio, the roundtable reviews Transformers: Age of Extinction!  Is it on par with the first three?  Is it any better than the first three?  Might it actually be worse?  Do the Dinobots actually make an appearance?  Is it time for Michael Bay to walk away from the franchise?  Can Michael Bay actually be considered an auteur, or is he merely a skilled technician?  Is the franchise beyond redemption at this point?  Is the source material too inane to be made palatable for adults?

We’ll also be reviewing the sci-fi actioner Snowpiercer!  Can it be considered a modern day fable?  Is it on par with other dystopian sci-fi classics like The Matrix and The Road Warrior?  Has director Bong Joon-ho managed to upstage his Hollywood brethren?  Has Chris Evans become one of our most dependable leading men?  Can he now be considered a fanboy favorite?  Does this film show that groundbreaking sci-fi can be made on a meager budget?

Lastly, we’ll be celebrating the 25th anniversary of Do the Right Thing!  It is still relevant after all these years?  Is it evenhanded in its portrayal of race relations in America?  Were critics right to fear that it might set off race riots around the country?  Can Spike Lee still make films of this caliber?  Is “Fight the Power” the greatest rap song to ever appear on a motion picture soundtrack?  Does the film offer an accurate portrait of Koch-era New York?

American By Design. Author Scott J. Schroeder-"Tea Party Resurgence"

    in Politics Conservative

Please join me (Uncle Bing) each Sunday as we round up everything from the week's topics with a twist from the insane to the inane with a Conservative point of view from a logical thinking person not a flaming cry baby emotional wreck like you find on the mainstream media.

This Sunday we will have author Scott J. Schroeder of the new book "Tea Party Resurgence: The Pursuit of a More Perfect Federal Government" to talk with us.

Scott was born is Libertyville, IL (Jan 14, 1972)
Graduated United States Military Academy at West Point in 1994 with a degree in Environmental Engineering
Commissioned in the Infantry and transferred to Special Forces in 1999
Four tours in Iraq and two in Afghanistan
Currently in transition out of the Army .

His book is a hard hitting indictment of establishment politicians on Capitol Hill, who refuse to acknowledge the problem of the federal debt and deficit spending, while continuing to add to the problem.

The book begins with an argument concerning the gravity of the federal debt and the attention that this problem urgently requires. After briefly reviewing the background and history behind the Tea Party, the need for a simple, inclusive message to generate popular support is demonstrated to be necessary to affect real change. It offers eleven principals for incorporation into national Tea Party principles that will appeal to wider audiences.

Finally, the book proposes targeted areas of focus for federal spending reform and emphasizes the need for citizen involvement to correct our country's current ill-fated course. This includes replacing establishment politicians with true citizen legislators, as was intended by the founding fathers.

So please join me as we talk to Scott this Sunday!

    Ricky March, Chicago's Funny Man

    in Comedy

Ricky March or Aric, to the people whom he owes money to, has always been a wise guy (not Soprano style either). When kids watched cartoons, Rick favored Burns and Allen reruns. When the Beatles were taking over America, Rick spun Bill Cosby and Allen Sherman records. A disk jockey in Syracuse, he first introduced the public to his menagerie of accents. He recorded voice over commercials for bug spray and wrote and produced a radio show called The World According to Myron Putchnick. A couple of decades and a lot of laughs later, he’s back on stage. From Zanies to The Improv to colleges and clubs aroung the country, Rick slings his sarcastic barbs and observations on the inane to make fun of everything stupid and everyone too serious about life.

All blowed up...tales of history and the liars it spawns

    in Current Events

As the world continues to roll to the end of time, we are given to reflect.  How the hell did Sarah Palin become a household name?  Welcome to the age of the inane and completely unexplainable.  Dithering platitudes to the ridiculousness of those who say and do in a society that is far to interested in the discovery of the unpleasant, self-obsessed and merely stupid.  How history really relates to the morons who spout it with such regularity and other matters of which they know nothing about...while your host does!  The above is testable.
