Last week we talked about the benefits of a blended workforce and the staffing challenges it brings, and this week we’re going to talk about how wellness programs improve employee performance.
Making time to stay in shape isn’t easy. Frenetic schedules and longer work hours take a big bite out of exercise. Plus, according to the American Heart Association, sedentary jobs have increased 83% since 1950 and physically active jobs now make up less than 20% of our workforce. In 1960, about half of the US workforce was physically active.
What to do? Being physically active can boost the employees’ health and it’s good for your business as well. In fact, research shows that workers who exercise during the day reported a 15 percent boost in performance, a happier mood and increased ability to meet deadlines.
Whether you can have an on-site corporate fitness center or not, there are simple ways you can help your employees find time for fitness and support their overall health and well-being.

The Coalition includes medical personnel, patients and representatives from various providers as well as non-profit organizatioins from within the cancer community.

Last week we talked about the neuroscience of what keeps leaders up at night, and this week we’re going to talk about why sourcing referrals can improve retention.
Predicting new employee tenure is about as easy as predicting the weather, even with various data inputs and powerful algorithms we have today. Most people these days stay in their jobs only about 3-5 years.
But one thing is clear: referrals can and do have an impact on employee retention. If an employee is satisfied at work, whose performance is consistent, and of course is rewarded fairly, then he or she is much more likely to suggest referrals. They become a brand advocate.
And if these referrals have a similar experience to those who referred them, they will in turn potentially last a little longer and make referrals themselves. In fact, even candidates that don’t get hired will make referrals if their experience is a good one.

In this episode, Nancy and Allison talk about what options are out there for helping sales managers improve the way they coach their employees. Just moving the needle even just 10% on average performers can make a huge difference to the bottom line.
Philip Rivers entered the day leading the NFL in passing yards, and ended the day as the leader. Rivers set San Diego Charger records for completions (43), attempts (65), and yards (503) in a game. The Green Bay Packers defense allowed 548 total yards but knocked down Rivers 65th pass to secure the 27-20 victory. With the win, the Packers improve to 6-0 while the Chargers drop to 2-4.
The Chargers kept Aaron Rodgers and the Packer offense on the sideline for most of the game by dominating the time of possession. They held a 38:00 to 22:00 minute advantage. This equated to outgaining the Packers 548-370. The Packers had a hard time getting off the field on third down, as Rivers converted 50% of the Chargers third downs. Although, the Packers defense struggled to get off the field and allowed chunks of yards, they came up with a play when it mattered most. Damarius Randall knocked down Rivers pass intended for Danny Woodhead with 15 seconds left.
Aaron Rodgers had another pedestrian day completing 16 of 29 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns. The Packers struggled to sustatin drives, and lost rookie Ty Montgomery to injury. This allowed wide receiver Jeff Janis to haul in his first career receptions. Eddie Lacy was uanble to get untracked rushing four times for three yards. James Starks had the longest touchdown play of the day. Starks took the handoff, was bottled up and spun off tackle. When you got outside it was a 65 yard foot race to the end zone giving the Packers a 14-3 lead. Afer three 80 plus yard scoring drives to start the game, the Packers offense began to stutter.
